The eternal dichotomy of sports fandom… the haters and the homers.

One, blindly optimistic; one, unshakably critical. I most definitely fall into the latter category.

In saying this, I’d like to open the floor to the optimists (I won’t name names)! I’m hoping we can have a constructive conversation and hear each other out on things such as:

Why do you dislike someone being critical of your favorite team and/or players of that team? Do you feel it’s disrespectful? Anti-fan?

While watching games, how do you react when things go wrong? If Dak makes a terrible throw or has an untimely interception or Anthony Brown gets burned, what’s your internal and external reaction? Do you have negative thoughts or do you directly move on to the next play and hope for the best?

I’d really like to hear from you guys, on both sides. There is usually a strict divide on this and there’s lots of judgment tossed around (especially during games when tensions are high). But maybe we can gain some perspective and have rational discussion while emotions are stable.

Go Cowboys!

I think part of being a fan is absorbing certain events of the past present and future at all times.
Meaning this; on one hand you can presently enjoy a wildly ugly division rival win. While still being aware that the future isn’t bright without something drastic changing about our qb and rb situation. And while even still longing for the days of a gunslinger qb like romo or a workhorse back like demarco Murray or Felix Jones

I don't like fans that rip players and coaches and call them idiots, trash, garbage etc..... I heard that for 40 years as a player and coach....It pisses me off! Many of you have never played the game and you call our players trash. Is that what you teach your kids.

What I have discovered in my time here at Cowboys zone....

I have criticized Dak for several things and it has earned me the 'hater' and 'not a fan' label from the so called homers.

I've been a fan of this team since 1975, and this is the treatment myself and other long time fans get when we disagree with a 'homers' opinion.

Why?

But it was ok to say Garrett sucked? You're one of my favorite members here, Ranch, but it's not ok to be hypocritical.

By the way, I always agreed that Garrett absolutely sucked. I find it funny, though, that I was never called a hater when I criticized Garrett, it only started when I became critical of Dak.

Can I ask, why do it piss you off? I understand if someone is blatantly disrespectful (especially in-person), but when someone says a player played bad, why does that upset you?

Do you ever get frustrated when the same negative things keep happening or do you find ways to maintain positivity and think the next time will be different?

Who exactly are the haters?
They seem to be more correct than the homers right now.
The poster labeled "haters" are the ones that doesn't believe Dak is an elite QB.

Right. I guess in current circumstances, haters would be those who are critical of Dak’s play or make the assertion that the offense isn’t playing at a level that will get the team where it wants to go

Over the years been called homer and hater. This season I'm more of a homer.

Here's what drives me nuts about haters
-They can't seem to enjoy anything
-Criticism is often not in perspective (games are hard, all QBs struggle etc)
-Feels like there is a lack of support and respect for our warriors

Your parameters are ridiculous....there are

My wife and daughter would sit in a stadium with about 10,000 fans every week and had to listen to fans cuss me and my players out.....I personally left the sideline and escorted a fan out of the stadium that was cussing out one of my players for fumbling the ball. We were up by 40 points! I HATE fans that ridicule and belittle players and coaches.....

So Josh Allen has what to do with this thread? Oh wait, nothing....it's just you deflecting but typical approach.

Go Cowboys!

By separating people into haters and homers you discredit yourself and the discussion you're trying to set up. So there's nothing in between?

K, thanks bye

Fair enough, man. Like I say, when it becomes personal, I completely agree.
If you feel like answering, I’m mostly just wondering if you get frustrated with Cowboys’ players if they mess up. Not that you cuss them or their families out, but do you have any negative thoughts or emotions when a really bad play happens?
