Haters vs Homers: A Discussion?

We've all seen wildcard playoff teams win the Super Bowl. So logically it makes no sense to give up on a season before it's over. Hater or Homer, both will tune in 'til the very end.

If these Haters have really given up on the season then why continue to tune in? So if no one is refusing to watch the games, then no one is a Hater. WE ARE ALL HOMERS.

WE ARE ALL HOMERS. We are all here to the bitter end regardless.
Yes sir!!! We all get to the destination a little differently, but we’re all in this ride for the long haul

idk but it would be boring if every one agreed on every thing so i do not mind a homer or a hater as long as they do not get mean about it and say ur stupid or what ever
That's pretty much all they do.

not to get indepth

for me? yeah i can break things down and the offense doesnt look good

but the goal is win

just win the game

i'll take the 9-4 and lets sort the offense out next week
I think against a bad team.....you want to look adept and dominant.
So that when you do play a really good team you have some confidence.

I’ve lived in the Dallas area for 20 years but the mystic, if you will, of the Cowboys I’ve known since I can remember. I didn’t live here in the glory days as many of you, but from reading posts of long time members I can feel the disappointment with seeing a once great team falter. Many attribute this to Jerry Jones with a generous supply of coach/player bashing going back several decades. But, I don’t see them as haters. I see them as rock-solid fans using this venue exactly as it should be used - to voice concerns, frustrations, and engage in debate. Bottom line, we all want this team to succeed. We just approach it from different angles. That’s what I love about the zone.
Well said.

I don't like fans that rip players and coaches and call them idiots, trash, garbage etc..... I heard that for 40 years as a player and coach....It pisses me off! Many of you have never played the game and you call our players trash. Is that what you teach your kids.
So we aren't allowed to assess player performance?

I’ve tried to not root for players but I root for the teams success. If you fall in love with certain players it affects your judgment. Today was a day to root for the defense to save your behind because Dak was sloppy. Earlier in the year it was different. Gotta hope Dak gets it together.

Funny thing about that. In a poll about that, the overwhelming majority thought he was just above average.

Dak did not have that great of a game....was doing another activity did not watch game but saw box score...1 TD 2 INT's....did see his first INT....i believe his calf not healed because when you overthrow that badly

your mechanics are way off....but i am total Cowboy Homer....we did not need a great Dak to win today.....our defense is much better and our offense hopefully can catch up but no Pollard is a loss

It’s all a matter of perspective. Fans generally judge their team not against the rest of the league in question, but rather this idealized version of perfection that is often not even realistically attainable.

Compared to an idealized world where we have the best offense and defense in the league and both clicking at the same time sure, we aren’t anywhere near that. But that isn’t what matters, what matters is the rest of the league. We are 9-4 and playing better overall than all but 4-5 teams in the league. Would you rather be Buffalo right now? LA? Pittsburgh? Baltimore? Or god forbid any of the teams with no chance to win a title whatsoever, which is the vast majority of the league this late in the year?

Relative to the rest of the league, which is all that matters, we’re in a better spot at this moment than all but a handful of teams. The only teams with a legitimate argument as being better right now are Arizona, Kansas City, Green Bay and Tampa Bay. And there’s a month left until the playoffs for things to change.

And I have no issue with critiquing players, if we can’t do that there’s not much point in these boards to exist. My issue is with targeting certain guys and always finding a way to make everything their fault. People did this with Romo his entire career, not realizing he was worth more wins by himself relative to the rosters he was on than possibly any Cowboy in history. Those 8-8 teams were 2-3 win teams without him. But somehow when we lost, no matter what, it was ALWAYS something he had done.

So get a little perspective and calm down

It's all good jwooten. I consider myself a pretty critical fan in my own right. I can see as well as anybody else the offense as a whole is struggling, and it's maddingly frustrating. But, questioning the makeup of the man as opposed to his play don't get it solved IMO. It's seems apparent that whatever is going on with Dak might be more mental than physical. The opposite for Zeke. Their play has suffered because of it. Constructive criticism. But if everybody practiced that what fun would some of these threads be:lmao2:

Fair enough, man. Like I say, when it becomes personal, I completely agree.
If you feel like answering, I’m mostly just wondering if you get frustrated with Cowboys’ players if they mess up. Not that you cuss them or their families out, but do you have any negative thoughts or emotions when a really bad play happens?
Yes we have players that mess up. But...qb job ain't easy. De facto leader....claimed leader. Big money man. He takes the heat like any other big money qb....why does dak get special protection?

I agree, man. I’m routinely called a hater because I’ll criticize Dak all day long if I feel he’s not playing well lol. I just wanted to more so understand the reasoning for other people getting upset when a player is criticized

Who exactly are the haters?
They seem to be more correct than the homers right now.

Not when many of them often argue “all I care about is wins”

and then the team is 9-4 and theyre now focused on individual stats.

that makes people hypocrites.

truthfully, this board does have people who like to troll for trolling sake.

All that being said. It’s fine for people to criticize and discuss players performances and the teams performance.

I just think people need to try and be consistent and reasonable.

I'm not all that concerned if Dak has a bad games. Happens to all. Dak has now not been very good for 6 straight games. That is concerning. If he's not healed, then someone on the coaching staff needs to grow a pair and sit him.
