When you look at the many threads today on our forum you see a vast range of reactions to the 10-4 Dallas Cowboys sitting atop the NFC East and with the NFC’s #2 seed- and all of them are understandable:
  • Some Cowboys fans are happy despite the sub par play of Dak and the offense.
  • Some Cowboys fans are completely down on the team because of its inconsistency.
  • Some are hopeful.
  • Some are doubtful.
But it’s all understandable. This great fan base has been through a quarter century of disappointment and disillusionment.

When this team flirts with success, it’s understandable that some fans feel dread because they fear more disappointment may be coming and go negative. While others can only handle positivity because thinking of another year of failure does not allow them to tolerate any negativity.

Wherever you are as a fan on that spectrum, try to be understanding of those who aren’t reacting as you are. Both reactions are understandable.

Go Cowboys!

Preaching tolerance for your fellow Cowboys fans. We all want the same thing, a winning Cowboys team. But if we can't fuss, cuss, and discuss it ain't no fun, IMO. ;)
Exactly. We can fuss and discuss on this forum all we want. As long as we keep it from devolving into name calling and finger pointing at each other. The varying opinions are what makes this place go.

Exactly, civil discourse is always what we want. But we have varying points of view about why what is what. As you said, it's all understandable.

After so many years of disappointment, I am really ambivalent when it comes to post-season expectations for the Cowboys each season.

I enjoy the journey now more than I have in the past because I accept that the odds are against the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl no matter the pre-season predictions, the regular season record and the post-season seeding.

Every team that makes the post-season but one will have their season end in a loss, so better to enjoy the wins along the way than wait for a season-ending loss.

2021 is a season that I watch and absorb as a dual trek to obtain success.
On its own - it is a solid recovery from the abysmal 2020, bouncing back to be a division winner/playoff participant .
Bundled with the previous five seasons - it is the latest stage in this team' core group (bolstered by talented recent acquisitions) march toward obtaining the crowning achievement.

:) Now, isn't Reality strange?:starspin:

I tend to trust coaches who have been through it before. I tend to trust coaches who have won a Super Bowl before. Call me naïve, that's just how I roll.

For me what's been fun about this year is I had no expectations of success. After the last 25 years and especially last season I was feeling pretty apathetic. With last year's history making defense, Dak returning from injury, and our cap situation I had no hope for this year. Especially with hiring of Dan Quinn. I was not impressed with that. This is the same Dan Quinn that lost in the super bowl with a big lead. So my most optimistic prediction for this season was 8-9. If you would have told me that the week before Christmas we'd have 10 wins and be the 2nd seed in the NFC, I would have laughed or got more medication. Last year at this time we were mad we won a couple games due to draft status. All year we've been competitive. So this has been fun. Far exceeded any optimism I had in preseason and we've established a foundation that gives us a 2-3 year window to be good.

Go Cowboys!!!!!

Bottom line is a team can be great but without great leadership it will never, ever get the job done. So many games are won with strategy and clock management and we suffer poorly with both. That coach in NE makes a living off of managing the clock and in game execution. We are horrible at both. If MM can't do a 180 and get his clock management right this team will not win in the playoffs.

Hate to agree but this is the unfortunate truth and he has shown it multiple times this year...it's going to cost us a game at the worst time

Good point!

Was that coach in NE coaching when we beat them in their stadium this year? I can’t remember if he took the day off or was in covid protocol or something.

10-4.

As I’ve maintained for going on 14 years in the Cowboy forums these sites don’t always reflect the pulse of Cowboys Nation. At least not the ones I’m exposed to here in Texas. I’m also humbled and reminded with a comparison or analogy I’ve made over the years in attending games that not all Cowboy fans we’d want to sit next to or invite into our homes. But they all have the right to project their fandom in however manner they choose as ticket holders.

I have hundreds if not thousands of friends, family, associates and acquaintances and we don’t always agree on all subjects and aspects of the Cowboys this era and our current status . And we don’t have any opposing fans or trolls infiltrating our conversation . At least none who we can’t absolutely identify as opposing or even former fans .

I have no issue with discussions with opposing fans . They can bring great objective insight. But on the internet they often can disguise themselves with the intent of terrorizing our fans . I don’t mind being challenged and taken to task but usually only by those I can fully acknowledge their origin and history. Not some schmuck behind a keyboard. And why I guess I don’t spend much time on social media.

An anonymous setting makes it difficult to decipher all and why on social media you can’t be certain of the intent and or agendas . The internet allows every numbskull a keyboard and noise we’d not normally hear from which doesn’t always add much to the discussion.

But they fuel the activity driving revenue by inciting responses . The longer I’ve been on these social media forums the less I participate as a whole focusing more on a few select subjects trying to stay away while bearing down on those who are disruptive. Once I draw my line in the sand I’m relentless. And I strongly believe in my conviction .

I think more fans should stand strong drawing their line in the sand while ignoring this noisy chatter from infiltrators . The extremes can often try and dominate the airwaves leaving the majority more in the middle skeptical about participation.

This administrator does a great job and the fact they are involved and participating makes all the difference. If not I’d of left years ago. And nice to see some Mods trying to make a difference . Much more patience than I’d have . I hope this site continues to flourish and wish it good will in coming years . Go Cowboys!!
