The defense is playing at a much higher level right now compared to the offense.

Possibly getting points right before halftime and receiving the ball to start the 2nd half would be a greater advantage than setting the tone IF the offense scores first.

Deferring a kick has no outcome in the game lol. The objective is to score first and hold the lead. The offense needs to get going. That ain't on McCarthy unless this offense will never get going then that's a issue in itself.

If you can get a quick 3 and out, make them punt and start with good field position. Then get that early lead.

The Browns did the same thing yesterday, & their offense is much worse than ours. It almost always takes an offense longer to get into a rhythm. Don't understand it either. At least MM isn't going for it on 4th down inside our own 30, trailing by nine with 4:30 left in the THIRD quarter, lol!

Every coach is different....just a few weeks ago our offense was outplaying our defense. He was protecting our defense. Now the roles are reversed, but switching it now could show that he lost confidence in the offense or maybe he just isn't quite ready to give the defense that confidence yet. Some are just superstitious. Analytics is a big thing now, but many are just set in their ways. I don’t we it as a big issue
