I rarely ever listen to anything they have to say. I caught some of it the past couple days and it annoys the hell outta me.
Now these guys are praising us…. Saying “we have a shot at the SB”. Meanwhile they were calling us choke artists weeks ago.
If we go to the SB they get to say “I told you so”…. And if not then they’ll just rip us again. It’s gross these guys actually get paid for their “opinions”.
There is arguably IMO nothing more useless than “talking heads” in the media focused completely, or at the very least primarily, on sports. They rarely, if ever, have anything insightful to say and are there essentially for the purposes of entertainment. That means their comments aren’t chiefly generated to engage thoughtful discussion but rather, discord and argumentative backlash which only enhances the ability of the comments they make to get retweeted and repeated ad nauseum, which is ultimately what they want. SAS is a genius at this.
When I say these guys are useless, I say that with the caveat that if you enjoy this form of entertainment you will like guys like SAS and SB and find them useful, but for me, I find it more boring than small talk in a checkout line at a Walmart. The only time I check the media consensus among talking heads is when my teams actually bring home hardware and even then it’s gratingly boring. I much more prefer the guys that break actual plays down and show what’s happening on the field. Listening to guys like JA Adande, Max Kellerman, Jay Marriotti etc etc etc doesn’t mean ish to me unless they are speaking on the interaction of social issues and sports. Kellerman specifically can be engaging regarding this.
