If you follow the draft (like I know you do) you’re used to looking at mock drafts. Most mock drafts are iterative and a regurgitation of other mock drafts.

With that said, we all know that a large of number of names mocked in the first round at this point won’t actually sniff the first round in reality.

One name I routinely see mocked (usually at the backend of Round 1) is Cincinnati DE Myjai Sanders. Sanders looks impressive when you see him, tall, linear sorta the way Danielle Hunter looked when he came out of LSU. However, that’s where it ends. I’ve keyed in on him since his promising junior year, but he has not produced nor turned the corner. I see him as a 3rd/4th round prospect at best.

What currently hyped prospects do you think will go much later than they are currently projected?

Jordan Davis. I think he is a 3rd rounder. I see him as a Derek Nnadi with better length. Nnadi plays less than 50% of defensive snaps for KC, and I see the same wherever Davis goes. He'll be good at what he does, its jusr not super valuable

QB's too. I dont see a real stand out. I think a few will go in the first because of position value, but I dont know of there are any real 1st round caliber QB's in this draft. You could see a few guys go in the first and basically be Jacoby Brissett in the pros

Yeah, I would agree. The one guy I like that I know is coming out at this time is Pickett from Pittsburgh, and I even think he is just fringe 1st rounder.

Question for this this thread. Is Adam Anderson draftable now after his charges?
Are the OT’s you see at the bottom of round 1 have good value. Thanks

Most players that are overrated are that due to a poor evalution of their skillet. Including instincts and mental makeup. Or ignoring warning signs.

NFL evaluators had Tom Brady drafted in the 6th round.
NFL drafted Roger Staubach in the 10th round due to extenuating circumstances.

Emmitt Smith was the 2nd RB taken in his draft.
Jerry Rice fell to pick 16.
Lets don't talk about Ryan Leaf.

Ricky Bell, Kenny Sims, Jeff George, Steve Emtman, Dan Wilkinson, Ki-Jana Carter, Tim Couch, Courtney Brown, Jamarcus Russell --- all number 1 overall draft picks who never even made a probowl.

Poor evaluation runs deep, and the NFL evaluators definitely has it's share of it.

Proper evaluation of players and getting attached to non productive players, so as to not admit their mistake, have doomed teams for many years.

No matter how good a player is in college-- knowing heart, work ethic, determination, dedication, and football IQ is almost impossible to tell from film and a few short interviews. Just about all they know are some physical attributes and whatever the film shows.

Yeah, I could see that. For some reason I think he’s destined for the Ravens, Steelers, AFC North/East team.

He really does have good short area quickness but you can see his stiffness trying to turn and run laterally.

I will go out on a limb and say every QB in the draft.

Jordan Davis…the talks of him going top 15 are absolute ludicrous.

I sure hope a division rival takes him that early.

Hate to pile on, but Jordan Davis is my #1 guy on this list.
If he goes to a division that is still run heavy he may have better success early on, but if he goes to division that has 3 capable QBs that run the offense, good luck to the team that drafts him.
For example, if Cinncy took him, it could make some sense with the Browns and Ravens in their division. But if he went to the NFC West and played against Murray, Stafford, Wilson I don't think he would be on the field that much/be that effective.

Maybe he can develop a bullrush that makes an impact in the passing game, but that's a huge risk for any team in the first to take. Clogging the middle is still valuable, but it's not the 90's anymore.

Think once the combine passes we'll have more candidates to talk about.

Jordan Davis will be a 27 year old rookie next year. If a team took him in the first round, the GM or person making the selection should be fired for incompetence.

How is that possible?

He was a freshman at Georgia in 2018.

He would have been 23 then if he will be 27 in 2022...
