I'm trying to avoid the endless Dak debates, though I might just be fooling myself. So, you can't pick Staubach, Aikman or any other Cowboys quarterback. Aside from that, which past Cowboy player and his position would you team with this offense or defense.

Me? It's a tie between Charles Haley, Erik Williams, Larry Allen and Emmitt Smith.

I gotta go Emmitt Smith. His durability, reliability and productivity at the running back position would make us a better balanced team and even more dangerous offensively. I'm okay with the pass rush, and although I'd take an upgrade on the offensive line, I think we can get by with the line we have, provided Tyron Smith returns.
However, the lack of a running game concerns me. And I believe we'll have to lean more on that in the playoffs.

But that's my take. What's yours?

Smith
Irvin
Novacek
Entire OL
Entire DL
Moose

and on and on

I’d only have Parsons and Gregory from this team on that team

I'd say O.J. Simpson was better than AP. He might have been able to accomplish what Jim Brown did, but Brown is immortalized because of his era and how he simply dominated his era.
There's a legend and mystique to him, which is why people consider him the GOAT. And he walked a way from the game while he still had a lot of juice left in the tank.

OJ Simpson had five years of elite production, and five other years of relatively pedestrian play. Peterson was far more durable and productive over a much longer period of time than Simpson was.

It's a cop-out, but I can't pick. I'm happy with all of these choices that I saw listed:

Larry Allen - Oline dominance. Yes, I grinned big thinking about him & Tyron playing together.
Emmitt Smith - feel like no matter what Oline, he won't let us down and be that constant 1st down RB we struggled with last few weeks
Michael Irvin - offense needs a leader like him
Darren Woodson - you thought Kearse was good, wait until we get Woody involved
Charles Haley, Bob Lilly, Randy White - QBs pee in their pants everytime we rush them
Deion Sanders - Diggs have 20 INTs, they ignore Primetime and let Diggs get as many picks as he wants, ST already doing well now we're getting TDs on returns constantly

And for my dark horse - Jason Witten in his prime. Him and Schultz playing together. Last piece of the offense if it's coming back together like it did last week. Be for Dak what he was for Romo whenever offense struggles again.

Got to be Emmitt Smith in his prime.

OL is good enough. Dak and WRs are good but Emmitt will give them the balance and make this O lethal.
D is already good enough and with offense including Emmitt Smith giving them the lead most the time the D can tee off on opposing QBs.

:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

Rice has almost a HOF career worth of receptions and yards more than Randy Moss

Ok, and I’ll buy that so long as Emmitt is the best.

What’s the criteria for goat?

Don’t tell me Walter Payton or Barry Sanders are better then change the criteria is all I’m saying.

Based on current needs....

Emmitt Smith
Erik Williams
Larry Allen
Dexter Coakley/Dat Nguyen/Ken Norton Jr. - Need LBers
Woody and Roy Williams just because that combo worked

I dont need you to buy it lol. Moss over Rice is a shock value take. I dont think there is a criteria that could place Moss over Rice

Emmitt was great. Top 5 all time. His three best career attributes we the championship runs that he fueled, and that fact that he was a pro bowl caliber for so long. The latter being why he is the all time leader in rushing.

Brown is the goat because of how dominant he was in his era. He had a the body and production of a player from the 1990's in the late 50' early 60's. If he wanted to play longer, Smith might be the #2 all time leading rusher right now

You know who Simpson played for, right?
Simpson WAS the Buffalo Bills.
Two, Simpson played his early career in a 14-game schedule.
Three, Peterson benefits in durability because of better medical technology. His ACL injury would have rendered him all but done in OJ's day.
Be that as it may, OJ was a blend of power, speed and agility - more so than Peterson, in my opinion.

Walter nor Sander were better than Smith. Id argue Smith over both, but I have three in the top tier with Brown.

Another one I will add just because the player compliments this defense well. La'Roi Glover
