All Micah needs is one big game to wrap it up.

He's going up against a dude who was out multiple games this year due to injuries and the team he plays on is so bad that their QB is retiring after the year is over. This is as bad as Baseball's MPV voting where a dude from Philly wins the MVP and they don't even make the playoffs. As far as I'm concern, if you come into this league and play on a team that has been average at best and YOU set a fire under YOUR team's *** that is so hot from YOUR style of play that it propels YOUR into the playoffs and possibly into the SB then YOU should win a lot more awards than JUST the DROY award. NO, Parsons should cleanup with the following: MVP, DPOY and DROY. I know, it's a stretch on the MVP but hey he's what you expect in an MVP player. Sure, Rogers plays offense and Parsons plays defense, now take both those players away from their respected teams now what do you have? I wouldn't even mind it if the MVP ended in a tie, as long as Parsons is one of the two players.............. Just my thoughts..........

how the bloody HELL is Watt the odds on favorite? I missing something? He's missed a ton of snaps. If he wins they lose all their cred.

Someone else mentioned it before, the "League" isn't giving anyone anything when it comes to the DPOY and DROY.

The Associated Press (AP) is an American non-profit news agency headquartered in New York City.

You're totally correct. No way does the League have any say or pull in the "AP" decisions..ZERO.
Me personally, I've never questioned AP rankings in NCAA football. It's the AP for goodness sake!

Would I like to see Parsons get the award? Sure. But, it’s not that important. You don’t change your game plan just to try and get stats for a certain player. That’s bad coaching. Each opponent should be schemed for differently to try and shut them down regardless who makes the splash plays. Winning should be the ONLY thing that matters, especially at this point in the season.

So let me get this straight then. You’re saying:
1. Quinn deployed Parsons incorrectly in that game, and that was a bad thing and he shouldn’t do it again.
2. Quinn deployed the defense correctly in that game.

I have no idea how you reconcile those two thoughts in your head, unless you think Parsons is completely irrelevant to the defense.
I agree. The staff knew the Giants were no threat to beat us through the air. They concentrated on shutting down the run as they should have and that included using Parsons in the more traditional LBer role. It’s just sound, smart football. As I stated before, winning is all that should matter, not getting individual stats for certain players. Considering we held the Giants to 6, I’d say the staff did pretty much everything right from a defensive standpoint.

I agree with every word of this. The defense was historically bad last year and now they're considered by some the most feared defense in the NFL. A lot of that has to do with the addition of #11.

Play calls that involve him in coverage should be called less often than those allowing him to rush the passer. Let LVE or Neal or Kearse handle coverage responsibilities and have Parsons do what he does best.
Like everything it has to be a mix.

getting pressure is not the only way to stop 3rd down.

I could be wrong, but the award is given by the Associated Press, and those who vote on the awards are employed by the Associated Press as sports writers. So how you can think the award isn't given by the Associated Press?

He needs Quinn to play him going forward from here on out. No more of that pure drop-back linebacker stuff like we saw against the Giants. It's a waste of the player and his abilities to limit him like that.

Too thin at LB to not play him there with Neal out.

Except he needs a pick to seal the deal!

Same here. The award would be sweet. But I'd sacrifice his individual stats in a second if it meant a better team performance. The good thing is that those two things are typically linked (his stats and a good D performance)
