Well, don't feel lonely because you have plenty of company, this poster included. I quick snap during games into anger and I haven't done that in years. And I wonder why? Could it be that after all this time, I am actually expecting something from this franchise?

Let's start with the times and this is not discussing that except to acknowledge these times, they should be a changin' and they're not fast enough and we are weary of the situation and the fact we are so divided and angry. We are struggling to be responsive and resort to reactive in our responses to too many things. Including each other.

We are edgy and with good cause, we're going through something this nation has not gone through in 100 years and something else it's never been through. But this thread is not about that. It is about escaping that if only for a few hours at a time.

The team teases us. They look like they might actually have something here, a top level offense and a worst to first defense in just one year! Could this really be happening to us? Could our 26 years of wandering the desert be coming to an end?

And then a wheel falls off and the reaction is "I knew it, I knew it was too good to be true!!! Same ole, same ole. That's what I get for getting my hopes up". (But damn............I wanted to believe)

But just 4 short months ago, how many were predicting 11 wins? How many that this team would lead in picks and turnovers? After last year's defense? No way. Scoring on defense and special teams? The Cowboys? No way.

But yes, way. Because they did it, they became that part of the team I started looking forward to seeing not getting a refill when they took the field....assuming that I would need it.

I am not suggesting anyone change the way they go about this only that they be aware of what might be behind some of the reactions we have. We are far more frail human creatures than we'd like to admit.

The Cowboys won the NFC East after a dismal 6 win season. The Cowboys finally got started on fixing the defense and got some really good players but it still is a work in progress. The glass is half full or empty, your choice. And if you want to wait until more liquid of your choosing is added, that's fine too.

But at the risk of being corny, not only did we get a better season than most of us expected, we still got each other. Even the ones that feud, fuss and fight, what would you do without each other? Don't tell me you do not look forward to coming here.

Negative posters, positive posters, haters, homers and everyone in between all make up this forum, this family. We get on the outs with each other just like family members do. What a mixed bag, some have been around since the team was born and some have never seen this team in a NFCCG. All brought together by the common thread that sews us together. That thread that we, too often, overlook.

My friends, I do not know where this season's journey will end but what a ride! And if you are a worst case scenario person like me, you get an 18th game to watch your team play. And that sure beats not having a horse in the race.

You people make up the best sports forum in the world and you should be proud of that. ORCAs or not!

I call them Guppies, not Orcas....LOL! Just kidding....it takes all kinds to make this fun. To those that think I'm an obnoxious homer, you're right.....but, I do it for fun and amusement. Nothing personal.

Myself I'm looking forward to seeing the Cowboys playing in the playoffs. It is 1 game winner take all, loser go home. I think this team is capable of going out and playing big. If you can't get up for the post season why bother watching the NFL to begin with?

I say que sera, sera(in Doris Day's voice) when it comes to all sports. Watching football or any other sport takes my mind off the drudgery that is 24 7, 365.

Yee haw! I get an extra game to give me a break from every day life.

Playing to the crowd now CC.

But no, I detached my emotions years ago. My wife even has to nudge me sometimes as I’m drifting off.

I just won’t allow myself to get hyped up over our franchise any longer . My cup is full from the glory eras regardless what happens .

I don’t have much room in my Cave for any new championship memorabilia anyway. It’s beginning to fill up with Baylor banners . Lol

My fandom has come full circle and my once dormant school has become a power in sports while my former one is mostly a laughing stock now hoping for a miracle . I guess if you live long enough we can see hell freeze over :)

I suspect the youngsters here have no idea who Doris Day was. Unfortunately, I'm an oldie, so I know!! LOL

This Franchise has not won diddly squat in over 25 years.

Looking at the history of this franchise before then its perfectly normal to be very dissatisfied and thus no kool aid or homerism tolerated.

Bottom line to me and most old time fans is that winning the division is strictly MEH.

This used to be considered a poor year if that is all we accomplished.

Breaking news!!

This isn’t the same franchise many of us grew up with. Only in name. The bar has been lowered.

If I was playing to the crowd, I'd be calling for rope and yelling "let'em swing".

I don't know about the others' expectations, except the ones that expressed them, but I did not expect this defense. I did expect to win the East based on a weak division and that offense but to get that defense. A defense that actually has me looking forward to them taking the field is totally new of me. Not since the 90's have I felt that way.

I also feel that this team can beat any team in the playoffs and lose to any one of them as well. But I will surely take that over not having a team in the tournament.
