The results are not surprising to me. Pollard's yards per rush are 5.38 vs Zeke's 2.69 among other stats.

Jerry needs to let big Mac play Pollard a lot more than Zeke. This gives us the best chance to win in the playoffs.
It doesn’t

Needs lots of carries to get going? I dont even understand what that is supposed to mean.

To me that means he needs tons of carries to affect the game because his ypc is low and he doesnt make big plays. No defense is getting worn down by Zeke and his 3 ypc running. We have to pass more, just to make up for his low yardage runs. Drives stall because he puts us in 3rd and long and 2nd and long often.

3 yards when you would expect 1? Its more like he gets 3 yards when he should be getting 8 or 20. Im fine with the 1 yard runs or the no gains. They happen to all backs. I want backs trying for the bigger plays if they are there. Its the big runs that really affect the game, not 5 3 yard runs. Nobody is cheating or sneaking up on a bunch of 3 yards runs. The defense is more than happy to watch those all game long. They arent getting worn down. Not in the least.
Agreed and Kellen Moore needs to call a better game esp against winning teams.

Well trading a QB likely has value. In a league where most teams don't value RBs, trying to trade Elliott is comical.

We could trade him, but we'd have to eat some of *next* year's salary too. Probably at least half.

To have a player of Elliott’s caliber averaging 2.69 per carry on any down other than 3rd or 4th and short has to be the result of predictable play calling. Defenses know where and when he’s getting the ball and they dedicate the game plan to stop it.

I hope there are some plays being set up for the playoffs that maximize his talent and gives him the ability to gain a yard or two before contact. It seems as of late he is hit in the backfield or having to make something out of nothing on 50% of his plays.

Hard to argue your points.

Zeke's name and likeness is all over the place in Frisco. He's gonna get his touches for better or worse

Doesn't Pollard just look like a better back, a more explosive back, and based on his long kickoff returns and his longer runs, the better back? I call this the eye test and Zeke finishes 2nd. Stats also back up Pollard being the more effective back.

Let's switch their roles and use a rested Zeke more and let Pollard take the most touches and see what happens. Zeke can still be effective but we have to play to his strengths. Using a rested Zeke in 4th quarter is the best of both worlds IMO.

Even if they both had a similar number of carries, it'd be better than what they do now. Zeke gets a lot more carries, and does less with them.

I know. Jerry starts his guys according to their salary not their production. IMO Steele should be our right tackle over Collins.
And to me, the next logical step after Starting Steele at RT, I'd move Collins to LG over Williams.

And winning be damned in the process. Jerry is immensely talented in marketing but a football idiot. Thus Zeke gets more carries
Elliott (915 yards, 10 rushing touchdowns) needs 85 yards Saturday to reach 1,000 for the fourth time in his six-year career.

This Data:
  • Is for a period where Zeke is badly banged up
  • Has a small sample size equivalent of one (heavy) game worth of carries for Pollard and two for Zeke
  • Does not account for the significant difference in ability to block
I'm all for putting Pollard in but this is pretty average analysis.

Rewatched the Arizona game....hard to run with 8 or 9 guys in the box. Arizona does an excellent job disguising their fronts. There are some big plays to be had if you can block the first wave....Schultz in particular....needs to do a better job...and we need to account for Chandler Jones.

Probability of rushing on 1st down depending on whether Pollard or Elliot is in is also a factor that these simple metrics ignore.

Remember 2016 when Zeke was amazing. Jumping in the kettle and doing the feed me was delightful. Now he is just a turd that need flushed.

Then Kellen Moore is failing to be flexible esp when we face good teams.

Agreed.

I also don’t want the Cowboys running him on sweeps because he does have the speed to make the edge and turn the corner. How many times have we seen the edge chase him down on the backside?

Zeke his rookie season was like a bat outta hell when he took the handoff and hit the hole, much like Pollard does now.

Sometime in 2017 he started changing his approach and started patiently pitter-pattering to the line ala LaVeon Bell. Problem is he doesn’t have the burst to accelerate when a lane opens or exploit a gap.
I 100% totally agree with every word in your post....
