12 personnel (and Pollard). With Jarwin now back in the fold, they have to get back to the package they were using early in the season...during the 6 - 1 run. They should dial this up against SF early, if they have any designs on REALLY running the ball and hitting play action off of it. According to PFF they were using play action 50% of the time when they were in 12 personnel. All that changed when they lost Jarwin after Minnesota.

You will have to be methodical, patient and accurate in this package...with quick throws mixed with runs. It could be a slog early...given the 49ers d-line.

At the end of the day, the 49ers are gonna get rushing yards. You just have to try and find a way to limit the damage. However, the most important thing is for the offense to start off hot. A slow start and this thing could get away from the Cowboys. The Eagles ran for 150 but they still lost by 25 points. Granted the circumstances are going to be different given the receiving threats that SF possess, but I believe that the offense will have to carry the day on this one. Perhaps Garoppolo can be baited into throwing a couple to the defense but Dallas will need to find a way to exploit the SF secondary....the weakest area of their defense. Prescott has to be able to make plays on the outside deep, when SF starts playing games with the safeties.

I'm now predicting an opposites day.

SF will not be able to run against us, but Jimmy G. will light our secondary up.

Dallas will struggle throwing the ball, but will average 6.2 yards a carry.

Opposites...
So at the end of the day, we win. Because we always win when we rush for over 110 yards.

I respect Irvin, I really respect Irvin and his insight but from here on out every playoff game will present match up problems. Every team and every game will have match up issues that will work for them or against them. There's no team that is invincible in the playoffs. So if drew the Cardinals then people would be discussing the bad matchup with Kyler Murray.

What I'm genuinely surprised about is it seems that the talking heads only address the matchup problems that favor the 9ers and there's not a lot being said about the Cowboys with favorable matchups.

O well, gameday will.answer all questions. I personally feel we will win but it's the playoffs so there's some anxiety there. But I feel we'll win in a dogfight. 31-27 win for us.

For real dude...it's like we're playing the offspring of the 85 bears and the greatest show on turf.

I hope this team comes out and does something special bc a 27-20 type of loss is going to make watching sports media unwatchable for about a month
I hope that we see the Offense that we saw at the first of the season The the media will be back on our Bandwagon. If we lose the media will be like I told you so.

The battle in the trenches is where this game will be determined. Stuffing the 9ers running game and feed a Zeke Elliott that is running wild is what will be the difference.

I actually think it is going to come down more to the lbs being able to see the misdirection and adjust to prevent the runner getting to the second level...they like to use a lot of trickery and we have to make sure we don't get fooled

Shanahan knows this and early on is where they could hit some big plays throwing. The defense will need to settle in early and play disciplined defense.

All I see is hate around the 49ers being a problem for us and NOT the other way around. We will give them problems too. I understand we have weaknesses but so do they. Let's talk about how we're not a good match up for them because their secondary isn't real good.
