When the officials got together after the whistle in question, you can't tell me that not one of those idiots noticed the whistle was blown before the catch. The conversation probably included something about how mad the crowd would be, and how the NFL will cover for them if they just let it slide.

When the officials are making news, you know there is a problem. They should be a benign entity in competition. Invisible, so to speak.

The NFL is severely flawed in focusing on crap like uniform infractions instead of honing in on the internal deficiencies that are killing the game.

IF we make it to Lambeau, bet it’s Hochuli!

Hochuli didn't make the cut for the playoffs, so you're going to lose that bet.

Officials are graded. He failed, for obvious reasons.

Seems like a weak attempt at an insult. Is that the best you've got?

At least the existence of this thread tells me we won't have a bunch of threads blaming "the refs" if things don't go our way tomorrow.

Yeah, right. :muttley:

Yep, refs make bad calls in every game. Happens. Deal with it. Win bigger. Dont let it come down to one or two bad calls.
These teams are all so evenly matched that is not always possible.

Everyone realizes refs make bad calls every game. The problem is that almost all these bad calls, or non calls, are seen by the fans on tv, but the NFL refuses to fix the calls.

We have the technology to see the bad calls, we should also have the technology to fix the bad calls. Simple!!

I liked your post and you think I'm insulting you?
Shallow.
I complimented and meant it.

#Disappointed.

Where is Marcus Rock? He scoffs at this article I’m sure.

Pipe down, fan boi. It's called being a critical reader and all.

It's an interesting idea for choosing playoff refs but it seems unlikely that you'll get consistent ratings game to game. Chances are, if you win, you'll like the crew. If you lose, not so much. Just like around here where ref threads only appear when we lose. So by season's end, the highest rated crews are by winners. If you're 0-17, you hate everyone. By mid-season, if you're reffing a winning team's game, are you more likely to want to please that team who's more likely to win if it means you'll get a higher rating and promoted to the post-season where you could see this team again who helped you get there? If refs have biases and feelings like so many here claim, why would you create a system where ref crews and teams could conspire to be buddy-buddy in a mutually-beneficial relationship? Gotta think these things through but knee-jerking is easier.

The real issue that needs to come from the NFL is what their standard is on how close or loose games should be called. Full time refs can also undergo full time training so that standard can be met across crews. We all want less penalties but let's be real; fans will never be happy. Call less penalties and fans will whine that officials don't make calls for their team on purpose. It's lose-lose for refs anyway so hopefully the NFL can publicly address it and go forward with it from there. Tweak as necessary.

So you not going to address my counter-points? You make my case for me. Again, knee-jerking is easier than in-depth thinking. So just scream "malfeasance!" like the rest to get it over with.

No one overlooks the ref angle anymore. They often decide games.

Yep. I'm not one that believes games are fixed. But if they wanted to do it, fixed games would be indistinguishable from any other game. That's how bad the refs have become.

It's pretty simple in my mind with all the money the NFL is making and all the ridiculous amount of technology there is out there.

There is absolutely no reason for games not to be called accurately in this day and age.
There is more than enough technology out there to eliminate the human error and this technology should be implemented in its highest form especially in the playoffs

Exactly. Not saying they're fixed but just so poorly officiated you wonder sometimes. The Saints have something to say.
