The bottomline is Dak isn’t enough to overcome poor OL protection, no running game and undisciplined drive killing penalties.

The same recipe to stop us still exist. Stop our running game. We were 11-0 this year when we gained 100 yards or more on the ground.

We were 6-0 against our division and 6-6 against the rest. Our offense struggles when you stuff our running game and cause havoc at LOS which happens more often against top 10 defenses.

Leading the league in penalties is a lack of discipline and drive killers.

Dak helps keep us in contention when all of this breaks down . But not enough to always overcome .
All true, Greg.

Question: Name a QB or QBs who could actually thrive and overcome poor Oline protection, poor run blocking that leaves you with no running game whatsoever on a weekly basis, and an undisciplined Oline that commits the highest in the league when it comes to drive-killing penalties?

I'm curious to see who you come up with since you always put a lot of thought and much factual honesty into your posts.

He was within a dez Bryant drop, demarco Murray fumble from going to the nfc championship game
So was Dak his rookie year. Actually, Dak performed better than Romo ever did during the playoffs. Funny how so many forget that.

I’d show Connor Williams the door. And we have to address Elliott. He’s totally ineffective anymore and costing us 15 million.

Romo was right when he said we needed to use Pollard more.

Our offense was built around running the football. It sets up everything else. We must fix that .

And our run defense still sucks. Draft a DT and or a Safety.
I said it during the draft...

The Cowboys made a HUGE mistake not trading up 6 spots in the 2nd round to move up to pick monster DT Christian Barmore from Alabama (would have at the most cost the Cowboys only one of their three 4th round picks, plus their original 2nd round pick (44th overall), to move up to grab him).

Instead, they settled for CB Kelvin Joseph who did not do much of anything to contribute to this Defense.

And draft a RB.

We were 11-0 when rushing for 100 yards or more.

And leading the league in penalties is undisciplined football killing drives.

Dak isn’t enough to overcome all of that.
Yes, penalties KILL us! Virtually every big first down, score, or big stop on defense is negated by yellow flags.

I’d go LG, C, DT, LB, and S in draft and FA. Ditch Zeke and go with Pollard/Clement. I’d also replace Phillbin.

But didn't happen in the end and now we are left with the same results with both Romo and Dak's team. Which is frustration and disappointment after yet another playoff loss.

I’m not going to throw names out for you to dissect each one but I’d argue there are a few more who are more mobile throwing out of the pocket or getting the ball out faster like when the protection breaks down.

While I think Dak is enough to build around we must admit he’s not one of the most Elite passers in the league. He just doesn’t make all of the plays and throws they do. Like most of the league doesn’t.

There’s nothing wrong with only being a top 10-12 QB instead of top 5.

Romo came close. You said he didn’t

Romo has a 4:1 td-int ratio and a QBs rating in the 90s for the playoffs. I just remember Prescott starting bad against Green Bay and throwing some picks.
Throwing some picks? It was only 1 against GB.

Romo threw several picks during his playoff games and never threw for more than 2 TDs in any playoff game he played (Dak threw 3 TDs his rookie year).

We possibly already have another C in Matt Farniok. Too bad Philbin chose Biadasz.

Romo needs to come out of the booth and be our OC. I always said this offense lost its spark once Romo stopped being in the coaches meetings. He'd be 1,000 times better than Moore.

Let us focus on the fact the OL sucks and cannot run block. If you cannot run for Dak, he will not win it for you. I believe all his stats are misleading. He can only win with a well balance offense.

Left guard is needed desparately. Lael Collins did not dominate this year. Biadasz is no better than average.

Frisco ran the ball well in 1st half. Boys did not. Get rid of Philbin and get a tougher OL coach.

We also do not have a game breaking 100 yard a game clutch WR, ala Pearson, Irvin, T.O.
Amari is good but no superstar. Michael Irvin would take over games. He scored two TD's in frst Buffalo Super Bowl game. Before the Hail Mary pass, Drew Pearson took the ball from the 9 yd line to the 50. He took over the game.

We also can use a sizzling fast scat back and a home run hitting receiver with afterburners.

The Oline didn't play great, but they were not the problem. They provided decent running lanes and time to throw. Zeke can't hit the hole quick enough and Dak holds the ball too long because he is processing defense too slowly and misses the open receivers. Offense is based on timming. If you miss the window when running lanes and receivers are open then the play will most likely not result in a positive play. Dak had plenty of chances to run, but didn't and took a sack or it resulted in a Oline penalty, which is likely to happen the more he sits in the pocket. The penalties are often a byproduct of Dak's inability to throw quickly. For example, Arizona Oline is not often penalized because Murray throws short quick passes. The Oline does not have a chance to hold like ours do.

We all are, Tony.
Man you could hear it in his voice at the end of the game when we ran. He was talking like a fan about still having time and everything would be ok. Then you heard the devastation in his voice when we snapped it after the clock hit 00.
