…..the criticism starts from the talking heads and tv experts, spreads to social media and than it grows like a tidal wave until the media either sees him fired or they get bored and go after the next target

At least Jerry doesn’t knee jerk fire people….always best to wait until the emotion dies down and than make measured decisions…..no matter what they are
Wise words sir

In the middle is the season, we rushed for 200 yards five games in a row. Then all of a sudden we couldn't run the ball anymore.

In the middle of the season, teams started crashing the middle to stop the run, while playing a two deep shell.

The point is... Adjustments were needed during the middle of the season. Now here we are losing a playoff game because we couldn't find away to make any adjustments what so ever. That doesn't sound like a good head coach to me.

The standard should be “better than Garret”.

We didn’t play well in any big games this year (outside maybe NE). That’s something that we have seen every year from this team in recent history. Not good enough. I want to win games not give coaches second chances.

Second year, after a pandemic, the Cowboys have a 12-5 record, won the division, in the playoffs.

The Clown took until his 5th year to make the playoffs, also took 5 years to win the division.
The Clown went 5-3 after he stabbed Wade in the back, then proceeded to go 3 straight 8-8 seasons.

After watching the game and seeing the Kurt Warner video someone posted earlier, the playoff loss is on Dak and the Wonder Boy Moore as much as anybody.
Ya sorry...he is a problem.

Undisciplined team that runs a predictable offense and he played an injured rb all year and made our offense worse.

He is lazy and uninspiring...he is a huge problem.

12-5 but didn't beat any team worth a pulse all year, blew a golden chance at the #1 or #2 seed, lost a home playoff game as a favorite.

He's a mediocre coach. And I have little doubt we'll be spending the next 3-4 years watching guys like you make the same excuses for him over and over.

Dallas needs to bring in a young, innovative coach where Jerry isn't looking over his shoulder. Yeah, I know, that's a pipe dream. But hey, I need something to believe in.

Guys like you would gut the team after a 12-5 season even if the Coach was 35 years old, guys like you think you know everything but in reality, know nothing.

and the penalties? how about the head coach do something about his OC not doing his job very well?
I agree, but At some point that needs to fall on the players. No matter what a HC says and how many times they practice it, it is not his fault CW hols alot, RG tackled an olineman and etc. Some are on him like delay of games and stuff to that nature but these individual penalty the players are stupidly making should be on them and they should get pay deductions if they start committing too many of them

He admitted to lying to get the job. This pencil pusher would have fired him immediately for that and hired Ranching. The team would have been well coached and well fed.

I vote for @Ranching to be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys. For the reasons you stated, plus we could all give him advice here at CZ. :muttley:

I'll post this sentiment in McCarthy threads:

You give him one more season. If, at minimum, he makes the Championship game next year and loses, you give him another season (if he fails to make the playoffs, or doesn't make it past the Divisional for the 2022 season, you know the drill). If he fails to win the Super Bowl in said last season, then you can him for good.

I just don't think you should fire him, not yet at least. Not after the improvement that was made, record- wise. This is just my opinion, as I know many people here know the game of football much better than me, but this is my inkling.

Stop using the word HATE for everything. MM had a unprepared team in a home playoff game, and he's nothing to help sputtering offense. MM deserves it all.

Who hates him? Bad owner and front office arent going to get a difference maker. He is below average at best. This a Cowboys fan's lot in life.

He was bad at head coaching before the pandemic...

You Might want to read the 2nd paragraph of this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_McCarthy

Michael John McCarthy (born November 10, 1963) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). From 2006 to 2018 he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. In 2011 he led the team to a win in Super Bowl XLV over his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. He was previously the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.

During his 14 seasons as a head coach in the NFL, McCarthy has an overall regular season record of 131–87–2.[1] He is among the only four head coaches (Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, and Bill Belichick) to lead one franchise to eight straight playoff appearances. McCarthy is second to Curly Lambeau in all-time wins leading the Packers.[2]

Everyone lost that game. If you conclude it was Dak, then you failed.

MM has as much to blame as everyone overall. The zeke issues was a complete F by the head coach.

How do you feel about washed up HS coaches talking football? Lol.
Well....good question, some of us are good guys that always look at the positives and care about their kids....some are very negative because they were fired or pushed out....I was a 13 year HC in Texas and left on my own terms.....btw

Completely different. The Cowboys were in caphell when Garrett took over.and still managed to stay away from a losing season for four seasons. Not calling him a success by any means, just saying if you want to compare the two HC's, Garrett did more with less.

McCarthy was given a team ready to contend. I totally agree that we shouldn't count the 2020 season against him but the truth is that the Cowobys lost games because they were sloppy, there was bad play calling, poor game time decisions, and the refusal to recognize the inconsistency of the kicker.

That is all on the coaches. Take away some penalties, make better game decisions, get a dependable kicker and this team wins 2-3 more games, including that wildcartd playoff.
