Jones: "Mike what's the reason for all these penalties?"

McCarthy: "I won the Super Bowl once you know."

Could see that being a family guy gag.

Peter: "It was like that one time I was gm for the Cowboys..."

**frame cuts to Peter and McCarthy sitting at a big conference table at the Star**

Peter: "Mike, What's the reason for all these penalties?"

Mike: "I won the Super Bowl once you know."

Peter: "Oh yea. Good point."

I would settle for no GM hire but him giving up on trying to take a backup QB with no coaching experience and turn him into Tom Landry.

Landry coached under Lombardi.

Garrett and Moore coached hardly at all before being handed control of the entire offense.
Jerry is a great owner, has done a lot of great charitable work with the Salvation Army, but as a GM he has done a below average job and its holding back the franchise.
I don't know how we will ever move forward with him as GM.

At least he isnt trying to sunshine pump.

Even HE is probably aware that fans don't want to hear it.

Stop. It's the same BS with him. Fans don't want to hear about his personnel evaluations anymore either but it didn't stop him from telling you about the QB.

He is doing what he's always done. Shifting the blame to others. He just has less patience now because he's turning 80.

Oh boy, Jerry is mad! Well, I guess things will really change now! Checks coaching hires since Jimmy left.......

Barry Switzer - 4 seasons .625 winning %
Chan Gailey - 2 seasons .563 winning %
Dave Campo - 3 seasons .313 winning %
Bill Parcells - 4 seasons .531 winning %
Wade Phillips - 4 seasons .607 winning %
Jason Garrett - 10 seasons .559 winning %
Mike McCarthy - 2 seasons .548 winning %

Aside from that time that Jerry got really low and hired Parcells, this reads like a nice guys that can be pushed around by an overbearing owner. So get ready for Mike Zimmer or Kellen Moore.

I'm scraping the bottom for any kind of positive.

That's all we have.

The problem with Mike is he was never hired to be the long-term answer. It's clear to me that Jerry hired him as a stop-gap to get to Kellen Moore. That's why he made Mike one of the lowest paid coaches in the league, and Mike was just happy to be offered a job.

Getting rid of him is not difficult, the problem is where do you go from there. Moore may get hired elsewhere. If not, are they still as impressed by him as they were before? Do we really want Jerry back on the open coaching market, interviewing names like Marvin Lewis?

Jerry Jones really does not understand the first thing about roster building. The roster may look good at the top but the problem is that once you get past the top the people below are just not good. It is great to have strengths but when you have as many glaring weaknesses as the Cowboys do (3/5 of OLine being bad, poor TE blocking, multiple holes in front 7, a secondary that is not good in coverage) you are going to get exploited by good teams and that happened over and over during the season and happened again in the playoffs.

The solution is to actually get better in the mid-to-late rounds and stop having all these boom or bust prospects just because having the occasional boom feels good. Getting okay players is how you win games. Not every player needs to have all pro potential. Sometimes just being a okay starter is good enough.

Probably the worst season of the Jones era.

From SB aspirations to failure from pretty much every one of Jerry's handpicked cornerstone pieces.
How is this worse than last year or the year before? Or any of the SB or bust years where we went 8-8 lol?
