As I watched that game last night, close to the rapture at seeing Aarongant Rodgers and his hang dog look, I thought of the Giants when they beat the Cowboys to go on and win their SB and give the Patriots their first loss.

The Cowboys that year had the better talent but not the better ability to play as a team and that's what the Niners put on display against the Rams, Cowboys and now the Packers.

I hope the coaching staff takes a long hard look at that coaching staff and how they stick with it and show incredible patience while probably having the least rated QB, and all around nice guy, in the playoffs. They stick with their plan.

I hope the players look at that and know why they lost that game and why Green Bay lost that game. Because the Niners are a team, they personify team and all of their concentration and focus is on the team when they play. They are of a single purpose.

That was what beat the Cowboys in both of those games, a better team. Not better talent, better teams.

When the Packers went through the Niners defense like a hot knife through butter, did you catch yourself thinking "how would the Cowboys respond to that'? Me too.

In this age of the highly praised and highly paid QB and all about the stars in the game, it is refreshing and reassuring a team can still win games they are picked to lose. They have been a pleasure to watch in these last three games and have got the owners scratching their heads a little bit. They didn't know a team could still do that.

That was a real throwback last night and I enjoyed something I haven't seen in a while, every play mattered. There was drama on every play as the most dangerous QB in the game proved it is still all about the team.

I hope our team takes a look at that team and sees the difference between them as a team and the Niners as a team. Because that's why they lost that game. They lost to a better team.

The 49ers, aside from Jimmy G, are built the right way. Fairness to Shanahan, they clearly thought Jimmy G was more than he is and did try to draft his replacement in Trey Lance.

Great post. We ran into a buzz saw of a team playing cohesively and running on all cylinders. We looked like that early in the season and them it all fell apart when the offense was dismantled by Denver.

I really enjoy watching SF play. Tough, fast, organized. Very impressed with them. Also wondering why we haven't heard Ryan's name as a head coach candidate. That defense is incredible, and its not a group of all stars, either.

I thought if they beat us they would beat GB and they did. Pretty impressive considering Garrap has a hurt thumb. They also beat Cincy a couple of weeks ago too. You have to remember they actually had more injuries than we did last year which is crazy.

I love this style of football. Once the snow started to fall I think they got better. I love that Rogers is out of it most of all.

How lucky are they though now? Garrap is a FA and they MAY have a franchise QB already

I agree, and I think the Cowboys had that in the first half of the season...then fell apart for whatever reason.

Yes sir we did. It seems to always happen that way. I was hoping that we would get the #3 seed and both the Rams and Zona would lose and it did. Boy was I wrong about that!

No deja vu to me...... I thought Dallas could beat the Gnats back in 2007. I had no confidence whatsoever that Dallas could beat SF last week.

Lance is really the perfect type of QB for the. They run the football and defend at an elite level.Hes never going to be asked to carry that team.

I think it’s coaching and the Packers not capitalizing on their chances. No points at end of half was killer, settling for a FG on the next red zone drive left the door open.
This Niner team is terrible at QB. Jimmy thows 3-4 boneheaded balls a game.

Even with the Giants, it was all about QB play. Eli had 2 amazing playoff runs in 2007 and 2011. 15 TDs, 2 interceptions, 6 multi-touchdown games while attempting less than 27 passes just once.

Garoppolo so far has a 25 attempt day, a 19 attempt day, 2 interceptions, 303 total yards, and no touchdowns. They will not get past either of the other two powerhouse NFC teams unless that changes.

Yesterday's games were exhibits A & B what stout defensive play can do against an opponent.
Less experienced Bengals got the first two scores (FGs) and never trailed (game tied twice) despite a turnstile offensive line - because their defense stifled the Titans.
Packers on that opening drive went through the Niners like General Sherman did the state of Georgia - but kept Green Bay out of the endzone the rest of the game. 49ers offense was mostly inept until the 4th quarter. But San Francisco did their homework ---- they demolished the Packers' very weak links....Green Bay's four special teams units.

Rodgers has hid a lot of warts on that team for many years. And that’s why he’s worth every penny but even he couldn’t overcome the dominance in the trenches……Mahomes, Allen,Brady can do it too. The Giants team is an excellent comparison to the Niners
