Is Jerry waiting on Dan Quinn before making a final decision on Mike McCarthy? Would Jerry fire McCarthy to keep Quinn from going to another team? These are the questions being asked this morning on the various football talk shows. Discuss.

Would any of that matter?

Seems more like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, again.

I think MM stays at this point. After listening to Jerry’s interview he didn’t sound like he was ready to fire anyone. I think he’s clearly upset about the prospect of losing Quinn tho.

If Flores doesn’t get a head job he’d be a great DC replacement imo.

If this was on Jerry’s radar he would have done it. Why allow Quinn to do all the interviews only to then make him an offer. Unless he wants to match any offer.
Then is that not fair to MM. what if he was available and other teams wanted to interview him.

As the longer he waits, the less chances MM would have.

Jerry would never get a serious quality coach that would consider coming here. If he pulled that. Yeah, yeah, I know some already think that is the case. But that is not true.

MM will be the HC for at least the 2022 season.

Then again we are talking senile Jerry, Drunk Jerry, or semi-sane Jerry.

Firing him this early in the process sounds more like premature expulsion rather than a delayed explosion.
When doing this correctly there should be some rhythm to this method……

I hope he would, and then Quinn could go get a coordinator for the offense, as well as an offensive line coach.

Would Jerry allow it? Or would Quinn be forced or coerced into keeping boy dumb wonder.

I think MM might have stood on his own in getting a coordinator but decided to keep Moore based on an abbreviated off season. Then the following year he thought having seen the offense before Dak went out maybe KM is worth retaining.

It just makes me wonder if he ever thought it was worth standing on the table to get rid of Moore. Doing so would certainly put him in the line of fire.

Now we are at another messy point where KM had the number 1 offense, BUT we all know they went to crap after Denver.

So MM has to justify why that ranking is deceiving. What we need is the firing to come from above. We NEED Jerry to fire MM and KM, promote Quinn and let Quinn build.

It's a lot to ask for. I personally believe Jerry is just blabbering and aside from being forced to replace Quinn, he will fire Philbin and a couple other less consequential coaches.

Jerry’s favorite coach is the one under contract. He doesn’t value coaching. If he’s proven 1 thing as owner of the Cowboys it’s that he doesn’t value the coaching position at all.

Flores would be my top choice as well, but would you consider Culley to be in conversation as well if Quinn were to leave?

Is it that he doesnt value it or that the only coaches that he hires know their limitations coming in, their restrictions.

Jerry better find a way to retain Quinn.
He would probably have to offer Quinn the Head Coaching job to retain him.

I'm not certain that Quinn would accept.
- He can take another HC job without having to replace the HC that hired him (McCarthy).

It appears that NFL Head Coaching salaries range from:
3M: Mike Vrabel
6M: McCarthy
12.5M: Belichick

Quinn was making 8M as HC in Atlanta.

It’s that Jerry doesn’t like to pay coaches who are no longer with the team. He won’t fire McCarthy and have to pay him the next 3 years for nothing (or however long is left on his contract).

My question would be since Coach salaries dont count against the cap why not pay Quinn what he wants to remain in his current role, he has expressed that he is comfortable in Dallas.

There are rumors that there are several times over the season where Jerry and Stephen interferes with decisions regarding personnel (La’el Collins and Zeke) and evidently even the offensive play calling.
