If Vic Fangio or Zimmer- here's our Defense

I can't get back on the Zimmer bandwagon. Last time he was in Dallas the defense was feast or famine largely based on his propensity to either play soft zones or cover-0 blitzes. He's a hard ***, stubborn guy and I think the league has or is in the process of passing him by.

I think Fangio has to be the first choice if Quinn leaves. If Flores is interested, he's probably my #2.

We want a DC who will stay here for the life of the contract, think Flores will run first chance he gets to become a HC again.

Wasn't the last time Dallas had the #1 defense it was with Zimmer as a coordinator?

..so then where would DLaw be in that Cowboys 3-4 defense ??
You could play DLaw on the edge or as a down DE. Really doesn't matter as there will still be 4 lineman in the nickel no matter if the are standing or hand in the dirt.

Here's why I dont want a 'name' coordinator if Quinn goes.....

He will have like a four year deal that Jerry won't eat, and when house is cleaned next year he will force the current DC on the new HC, who will of course say yes so he can get the job......and here we go again.

Just promote Edwards and run the same system.

Fangio, Martindale and Zimmer are all pretty good options if Quinn left.
Nobody who really knows football is going to hire Quinn. This team had takeaways and it improved overall. But, against the run they were 29th rank. That is not good to go anywhere in the playoffs or to a Super Bowl.

if DLaw is on the edge, then where is Parsons in this 3 man ? .. On the same outside edges as DLaw and Gregory ?

I could imagine, multiple fronts, hands in the dirt in nickel rush packages, but base, gaps, goal line,? ... i guess i have to get a image picture of it. ..

Don't automatically assume Fangio is only a 3-4 guy. Fangio and his disciples (Staley) have used 4-3 under fronts. If he does come here, I think you will see multiple fronts like we have this season.

If they go 3-4, and I hope they don't, I think Gallimore is a NT and Watkins plays DE. The NT rotation would be Gallimore and Bohanna with Hill, Odighizuwa, Watkins, and someone else rotating as DEs.

I think ths defense is really close so I would not mess it up just because of Parsons. I think having Parsons at LB is a good way to use him.
Gallimore as the full time NT would NOT be good for the long run. He’s NOT shown he can consistently hold up against the double teams that the the good to really good NT consistently swallow up to allow everyone else 1-on-1 matchups. Good running teams have exploited this fact the last few years against the ‘Boys.

I don't want Zimmer. I want the Cowboys to go towards another direction rather than picking someone from the past. I also think he's a bit overrated.

I want Fangio.

Vic Fangio can run a 4-3 as well and will probably run it his first season here if hired

Why do we want that? I’d rather have a guy who does such a great job with the defense that everyone wants him.

They would move him around, I'm sure. They'll use him as the rushing end on the weak side, put him the the box, or line him up at SAM on the strong side with Lawrence. His "3-4" still shows quasi 5 man fronts, sometimes 7, that can drop and confuse the QB.

Fangio is my choice...............he created the blueprint on Dak and the Boyz, they never recovered after that Denver game.
