Philben primarily runs a zone scheme. He’s been one of the top Oline coaches running said scheme for a long time. Both Zack Martin and Zeke have expressed that’s their preferred scheme in the past. Maybe, just maybe Philben ain’t the issue! All This coaching talk is somewhat white noise.
However, to me, the unit that objectively underperformed as the season went on was the oline.
Yes, the lead RB is about as agile as Mr Creosote. Yes th QB holds the ball too long sometimes. yes the C and RG may be below avg.
That said, therr were too many missed blitz pickups, stunt confusion, and holding calls. I mention the holding callas as Green Bay was supposed to be innovative in their techniques to hold and keep it uncalled. This was a major topic after 2014 and 2016 playoffs. Philbin wasn't even there for that, though
The line seems talented enough, but just looked out of sorts too often. Philbin seems to be a McCarthy family member, otherwise I don't see anything he has done since 2011 that warrants retaining him. He has pretty much washed out everywhere
It’s needs to happen and the new Oline coach is hopefully a run game coordinator as well

Alrighty then “off with his head! I got dibs on holding the bucket!!!It isn't the Shanahan ZBS
Would like to see Colombo. He knows the power blocking and scheme we used before that had us running the ball.. And he brings fire and nasty..
Munchak is the get, but I do like the fact that Columbo won't hesitate to tombstone piledrive someone on a moments notice...Dallas included
Agreed , get a coach in the Shananan tree or similar who knows how to coach the OL to run block.A thousand percent this. He has to go. It should have happened already.
They are probably starting their evaluations now and will see how the coaching positions fill up to see who is available. All This coaching talk is somewhat white noise.

Coogs! You facetious dog!WE'RE HAPPY WITH THE GUYS WE HAVE
Bill Callahan could work wonders here if he and Jerry are not on bad terms from before. It’s needs to happen and the new Oline coach is hopefully a run game coordinator as well
Zone blocking dont work with our guys. We liked line up power blocking. The know how to zone block but I think it’s a different style or something because we were way off on assignments. Since when did Tyron new a double team on his guy. Expecting a TE to come across and fill the gap on a run blitzing lb..i wondered if McCarthy was willing to change schemes, could Lumbo and MM shake hands on their differences as i heard that his exit was not a pretty moment.
Reportedly Marc was not only just upset that he was not gonna be re-signed and continue OL coaching for Cowboys, he also was upset that MM did not come talk to him
personally about being dismissed as OL coach. (supposedly looked for but could not find MM) ...
i threw out Campen's name because of his long career as Packers OL working for McCarthy, and if MM is still so insistent on that Packer like zone blocking scheme
and having one of his buddies at his side.
But i better like having the physicality demeanor of Munchak or Columbo.
