naw, Payton pretty much said he didn't want to coach next year. plus he's still under contract with NO........ so 2023 works better

I have no problem keeping McCarthy another year. But he is basically sitting on a nuclear reactor.

Either he makes the Super Bowl or the reactor goes off at this time next year. Then some guy will take off his TV headphones and take his place as HC

The Cowboys control their own communication. They could've reinforced Mike at any time following the season and deliberately chose not to, in spite of everything everyone was saying.

Methinks if Quinn didn't come back, this wouldn't have been released

A small victory for stephen , MM's drinking and eating buddy.

Regardless, the way jerry responded to questions about MM's job security lately is enough to virtually make MM a lame duck . It is CCG or bust for him now and even that may not be enough if payton is available.
Jerry saves at least 5 million by keeping him another year , given there are no great viable options out there.
Next year will probably be his last year regardless. He got lucky last year was blamed on dak injury and covid.
His gravy train stops this upcoming season.
I don't see how players will look at MM with respect or reverance what just transpired and calling his team nervous .
He instilled hesitation and a soft culture in the team . Read somewhere that they never practiced on fridays !!!

I had 1 overpriced not worth the drive was not nasty but was just a burger There is a little burger joint here in Idabel OK they make some great burgers called Sweat Tea's No drive through no inside eating area Call in or walk up orders only.

The Cowboys' FO is fittingly being cautious with their most important decisions. I'm actually quite relieved to see that no knee-jerk decisions will be taken at this juncture. This staff will get more valuable info as to what to expect from Mike McCarthy in the 2022 season. I picture this as good news, until such time as the team's situation becomes more clearly defined. There's no harm in being cautious with such major decisions.
