After their shoddy OL lost them a super bowl, the chiefs decided to fix the OL and did it in one offseason.

Signed a high end guard (Thuney)
Traded first for a LT (Brown)
Used 2nd on a center (Humphrey)
Used 3rd on a guard (Smith)

just like that’s weakness was turned into a strength and will be for the next 3-4 years. This is the type of front office work the cowboys are incapable of doing.

You're spot on they haven't had a good offensive line in years. Still can't believe we wasted years of picks finding all-pros in Tyron, Zack, and Travis, lol.

Well, to be fair, they did draft Frederick, Martin, T. Smith and Collins, and the o-line was one of the best a few years ago. However, more recently, it has taken a downward turn. Perhaps the Jones' can once again invest in obtaining some great o-lineman.

took more than half a season for them to even play well together, i mean kc had the same issue we had most of the year, heck i saw Mahomes in the last few playoff games with this new OL still running for his life..they tried fix it it sort of worked but in no way was it dominant.

something needs to be done with the OL a slight reshuffle and some Changes but nothing that drastic.

It does seem like we've been capable of finding some good offensive linemen over the years. Even before the most recent group Flozell Adams, Gurode, and Free were pretty nice homegrown finds. Then bringing players like Leonard Davis and Marc Columbo in were also good moves. I'm pretty confident we'll find some talent in the draft and bargain bin shopping that can get this group back on track.

Tyron Smith - first rounder, 2011
Travis Frederick - first rounder, 2013
Zack Martin - first rounder, 2014

The OP is correct in pointing out Kansas City's quick fix, even if it is a temporary one, has solidified their offensive line. The Chiefs front office's efforts played a major role in getting the team back to the AFC conference championship and a stronger opportunity of winning the Super Bowl than their last visit.

The current OL is a weakness. If you don’t think so, you weren’t paying attention the last half of the season.

Oh I totally agree we need some OL help, but I don't believe this team is incapable of addressing it. They have before. Now if you told me they were incapable of finding a 1tech on the dline, I would agree 1000 percent.

It is true that Dallas built a dominant offensive line with drafts over several years. Can Dallas' front office fix the offensive line in the short term like Kansas City's? That is the question.

Thats how you address an area of weakness quickly, so the payoff now is a possible advancement to the SB.
I expect to see the Boys address the OL in a similar fashion this offseason and draft.
Jerry waits until the glass is empty before refilling to the rim.
This team has a history of running it dry positionally and then retooling the ranks, just WR group most recently/DBs.

I was hoping Biadaz would improve a lot; but have not seen it. And Left guard is still a problem. But I think the bodies are there for every position EXCEPT center. Tackle is OK for the moment but Smith has to be replaced. Steele? kind of hard to really judge how good he can be. Collins? He can be a very good RT and a very good Guard as he has shown. I am thinking he is probably going back to guard. IF I was to guess I would say the boys will be looking for both tackle and center in the draft. A nice FA pickup would help but somehow I just do not see that happening under the current regime of only resigning our own no matter what.

I'm among the last people that would defend this front office, but I don't see them as being "incapable" of doing something they already have.

The 2016 OL was a dominant unit.

Sure, the penalties are a problem right now, and Biadasz and McGovern somehow regressed....but this OL is a tweak or two away from being much more than servciable.

agreed

the OPP premise while accurate is off base.

that KC team went o sb with that OL the OL was missing what 2-3 players were hut they didn't play in that sb and of it weren't for Mahomes Type issue i doubt it would have looked as bad as it did.

the op feels its been much improved and i say how so the other group carried them to how many straight AFFCG and sbs?

yes Reid and the fo changed them all out but i dint see a dominant OL this year form them i saw them start slow have an up and own season and finally got things going right before the payoffs. more to do with healthy and confident Mahomes, the OL while new is it improved?

i doubt it..

our issues are not really execution more than its penalty's. changes for sure need to be made but nothing that drastic IMO.

we have lie 20 FAS to replace they won't go and blow the OL up like KC as they dont need to we have Ball, Farniok, Mcgovern and others to maybe redesign/reshuffle the current OL and see what shakes out..now new OLC might be necessary but not an entire OL.

this FO has been “incapable “ of having a plan to build a team

may be a good to review what this FO has done in the last 25 years if you’ve been asleep

I have zero faith that they have a plan and know how to execute it to address our needs this off season

We would never sign or trade for an established player. It's not in Jerry's DNA. He wants to find the hidden values so he can prove he's smarter than everyone else. And occasionally he does get a little more than expected so it fuels the fire.

The Boys have proven they CAN build an excellent O LINE. However they seem to have problems when one or two pieces are bad and they struggle to replace them.

Remember back in 2010 or so and Jerry was on this kick to recreate the 90's O line using late rd picks and UDFA's and such. We got the Immortal Costa and Nagy and several other duds.
THEN they went the opposite route and started to use High picks; Smith, Fredbeard, Martin. Which worked.

It will be interesting to see what they do now.
