With FOX and Amazon reportedly battling for Troy Aikman’s services, the longtime analyst picked the perfect time to have a masterful performance in the booth.

Aikman has become the best NFL analyst on television, and all of his skills were on display during the Rams 20-17 NFC title game win against the Niners on Sunday.

What makes Aikman stand out against all the other top analysts is simple: While most color commentators are afraid to criticize anybody or anything, Aikman will let the critiques fly at all times. But he does it fairly and professionally. No snark, no over-the-top attacks, just straight-forward commentary.

Great story and spot on. Cowboy fans have been critical of Troy cause he calls it like he sees it often with critique of his former team but this is why he’s gained so much respect around the league is he doesn’t play favorites .

We’re going to miss his honest critique on Sundays if he moves to Amazon .

I agree. I have never understood the notion that Aikman is a Cowboy hater. I think he calls the games the way he sees it and pulls no punch be it a Cowboys game he is working or any other team. When doing Cowboys games he will point out good and bad of what he sees, that is his job. His job certainly isn't to cheer on Dallas.

Only if fans on here could be the same. :muttley:

Troy does not hate Dallas when he announces. However, I think many fans think that way, as some thought that way as well, but backed off of the criticism of him.

Troy now talks straight up about all teams, including Dallas. And 95% of the time is within reason or spot on.
If you listen to Troy on his weekly radio spot on The Ticket. He usually has good things to say about Dallas as a team. But when they screw up, he also says it.

When Troy 1st started being an analyst, he seemed to go over the top, out of his way not to sound like a homer. So that is where is reputation came from as hating on Dallas.
He has since calmed that down.

I still can't stand Joe buck though. Though he seemed a little better this year than in the past. At times though, No matter what team he is announcing. He seems to get more excited over TD's from certain teams still, but it is what it is. I just push mute button before teams like GB score . Nantz does not seem to do that, stays even keel for all teams. I have no preference between Troy and Tony for the analyst.

Yea, I’m not sure why all fans don’t see this. How can any fan not watch without some critique.

I would have to agree. I think Aikman is one of the best analysts in the league. Most people don't realize how hard his job is because he makes it sound effortless. However, if you put the average fan in the booth, they would be all "uh ... uh" and then say a lot of stupid things off the cuff. Aikman is always really prepared and knows his stuff.

Don't have a problem with Aikman or Romo. I think those who do are mainly nitpicking because we've heard enough bad color commentators to know that neither of our former Cowboys QB are bad. You want to hear bad former Cowboys, go back and find a few games called by Witten or Emmitt.

Buck annoys me so much that I couldn't even give an honest opinion on Troy's work these days.

I have to tune out one to not be subjected to the other.

I lol’d when he was pissed about not getting the DAL-SF game and thought with the history he has with that rivalry, he should be mad.

I do not think Aikman has an equal in the color role and I do not enjoy listening to Romo at all. He and Nantz were acting like two nerds in that last broadcast.

Well, we give you Aikman and Romo........ but there was also Witten and Emmit Smith.
Witten was ok.....he certainly wasn't as terrible as everyone here wanted to believe. At least, not to me. I can't remember Emmitt doing any broadcasting. I do remember him on the pre-game shows. I thought he was fine....maybe a little less refined than some of the other pre-game hosts....but, it never bothered me.
