i noticed that DE Chauncey Golston is just not talked about much among Cowboys Nation.

He was a surprise 3rd rd pick and frankly i did not come away impressed
with his rookie 2021 season.

- Post-draft, Golston was thought of among most draft guru’s as a reach in the 3rd round – ditto with CB Nashon Wright.

I admit that I have not projected him as an front line factor. But there are some factors to be considered.

- Sure he was a rookie that missed the entire summer per injury and that had to stunt his growth
and development and I only saw a mere handful of flashes from him in the entire year,
and just thought he just wasn’t much of a factor.

- Frankly i haven't seen anything about Chauncey athletically and physically stands out, not an explosive first step off the ball, or overpowering hulk like strength.

- The hope I have with him is eventually being a guy that becomes so adept and advance in techniques that he is an very productive Overachiever.

- A Michael Bennett. type ?
Not impressively physically but just shows a uncanny Knack for plays and penetration.

Future other than being part of the rotation and hopefully growing as a player to contribute more than he did during an abbreviated rookie season?

He's near the bottom of the cap pile and will either continue to earn reps or eventually be passed by better players. I don't think there's a lot of confusion or uncertainty around his future. He's under contract for 3 more years for a cheap annual salary.

He was a solid 3rd round pick. Gholston was a rotational versatile player for our defense. Let’s see what happens in his second season before we declare him a bust. Needs to get stronger and develop some pass rush moves but certainly can help the team next year.

He's a rotational guy. That's why he doesn't get a lot of chatter.

Was drafted because he was solid against the run.He didn’t show that too much this year failing often to set the edge.Had a sack or 2, but was injured and was a rookie.Hopefully he will continue to progress.

Look at all the d-lineman we have drafted in recent history. Almost none of them ever turn out at all - it's pretty remarkable. It definitely makes it tough when you're rarely drafting any in the first but there are a lot of quality d-lineman that have been drafted outside the first round.

Yes. We do a horrific job of evaluating defensive linemen.

But just imagine how bad it would be if we didn't have Will McClay. Thank God for him.

Hard to judge an unfinished product
He obviously needed to develop or he wouldn’t have been in 3rd round
Will he be a super star? Probably not but that would be nice
The real question is can he be a solid contributing player and I think that’s probably very possible

1 sack and a fumble recovery. 12 solo tackles and none for loss.. Seemed like he had a lot of snaps..

Perhaps I'm misremembering someone, but seems like Dallas does has not focused on athleticism / measurables as mush on the DL as they have other positions.

All our picks seem to be buy of average athleticism, with some that with less than ideal measurables.

Probably will absorb Dorance Armstrong's snaps if he leaves in free agency. He's not liable to be more than a rotation guy, but maybe he can develop enough to deserve that role
