That 3rd round was garbage.
…..there was a definite lack of quick twitch muscle players in that 3rd round
That 3rd round was garbage.
Perhaps I'm misremembering someone, but seems like Dallas does has not focused on athleticism / measurables as mush on the DL as they have other positions.
All our picks seem to be buy of average athleticism, with some that with less than ideal measurables.
What 3rd rounder was better than Osa and Gholston to make it not garbage?
And no, I don't expect a legit answer.
i noticed that DE Chauncey Golston is just not talked about much among Cowboys Nation.
He was a surprise 3rd rd pick and frankly i did not come away impressed
with his rookie 2021 season.
- Post-draft, Golston was thought of among most draft guru’s as a reach in the 3rd round – ditto with CB Nashon Wright.
I admit that I have not projected him as an front line factor. But there are some factors to be considered.
- Sure he was a rookie that missed the entire summer per injury and that had to stunt his growth
and development and I only saw a mere handful of flashes from him in the entire year,
and just thought he just wasn’t much of a factor.
- Frankly i haven't seen anything about Chauncey athletically and physically stands out, not an explosive first step off the ball, or overpowering hulk like strength.
- The hope I have with him is eventually being a guy that becomes so adept and advance in techniques that he is an very productive Overachiever.
- A Michael Bennett. type ?
Not impressively physically but just shows a uncanny Knack for plays and penetration.

I would say that Trysten Hill was picked primarily on measurables and Neville Gallimore was a size-speed pick. Both were supposed to be quick off the ball.
Him and Osa looked similar. Risen said the 3rd was garbage. Not just Ghoston. I'm just pointing out how dude just shock postsNot available when we picked, but Milton Williams showed some good thing in the season finale against us. Looked like he could become pretty legitimate for the Eagles going up against our starting linemen.
good, young player who should only get better.
liked him at iowa.
haven't changed my mind.
good player.
you can be a "depth guy" and still be a "good player".What did he do last year that makes you think he's a "good" player?
Why do people struggle with just admitting guys like Golston, often drafted in the middle rounds, are nothing mroe than depth guys, rotational pieces? Because that's what Golston is and what his ceiling likely is.
In other words, if you Golston can replace Lawrence or Gregory, then you are likely reaching.
I beg to differ. Some really showed up..It would be a challenge to get less from three 3rd round picks.
Will McClay's back though, right? At least we have that going for us.

After year 3 you are what you are so I would wait till then. Young with little NFL experience needs time and weight room reps and bulking up same goes for the center. He was a solid 3rd round pick. Gholston was a rotational versatile player for our defense. Let’s see what happens in his second season before we declare him a bust. Needs to get stronger and develop some pass rush moves but certainly can help the team next year.
Bad draft if you take away #11. I'm still not sold on that corner we drafted in rd2.
