Unless your a Generational Talent.. Tyron, Martin and now Parsons and maybe Diggs if he keeps it up.. I wouldn't pay tops in their position to anyone.... That includes #4..

He got his money before he fell off. Now set for life if he's not dumb with his money. Had he waited one more season he wouldn't have gotten paid nearly what he got. On the flip side, his contract hurts Dallas.

Yes, good for Zeke. But I'm a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the team made a terrible decision being strong armed into that contract.

I think itt was likely Zeke's agent who can likely take credit for knowing when to sign Zeke and Zeke was wise to listen to him. Jerry might have been even wiser not to cater to it, but Jerry isn't especially adept at contractual decisions. He and Stephen tend to get outsmarted by crafty player agents.
very true. Jerry likes the attention and media buzz of a hot negociation etc. But he caves miserably every time !!!
the only cave that was well worth it was the Emmitt smith deal in 93 .

Of course, he knew he was going to get fat and lazy and play uninspired football. He had to get paid so he could be a lackadaisical daisy picker.

If I were a GM, I would never have a RB or WR on a second contract, there are just too many of them and not enough OL, who have longer careers.

I've heard Booger talk about the New England model but I wonder if he even understands it? Belichick has a formula for how much he will pay every position, including QB.

If they want to emulate what he's done, why not look at how and who he pays?
And who the HC is and how much power he has.

I still see Zeke as a little bit out of shape and still a little heavy for a RB. I look back at his days at OHU and the guy was a freak totally ripped and very fast and athletic now, however, he carries it two times in a row or runs for an astonishing 10 yards and he looks to get out of the ball game.

So be it......I've seen many get used up.....I'll keep rooting for the players. Some have NO idea the pain and suffering many of them go thru.....
I root for them to be well paid. Why is it important to root for them to get 15 mil/season instead of 10 mil/season? Either is a life changing amount they can easily retire on. Why get that extra that could be used to get the team into the super bowl? That's what I don't get.

I myself root for the NFL players to become very rich. W/ the harm they do to their bodies, they deserve it. It's the greed of insisting on maxing out a contract that I disagree w/.

And look at it from another perspective. The money, say Z and DLaw got, where did it come from? It comes from other players' pockets.

So, when you are rooting for anyone to get a maxed out contract, you are actually rooting for other players to get less.

Yep, he's not married he has no kids to feed or buy shoes for. He can't take care of his family, your family, my family at 25 mill a year, sure he can.

40 mill for a single guy is simply greedy, no way around it, and......all that endorsement.$$$$$. Let's be honest he has never been up there with the top guys so why pay him as if he were?

Funny, no one mentions the Billions that owners make, but 40 million for one man is outrageous.

Get what you can....I did....and I got my assistants as much as I could. I paid some more than others, they aren't all the same. Goes for the players....if they can't afford you, move on. It's a game to us, but it's their livelihood. 3 or 4 years for most and then off to the real world.

So, it's ok to rob others as long as you get overpaid?

I don't blame Zeke for getting it while the getting it was good. Leaving it up to fate that he would have the same leverage in two years would have been foolish.

While I don't agree with Jerry for giving out that contract I can understand where he was coming from. His glory years were because of a high end running game. Since then his best seasons have happened when leaning on a stud RB. 2007, 2014 and 2016. Jerry has never had any success at all without a stud RB on his team so he is inclined to overvalue them.
