If you have ever hung out with NFL athletes which I have, you would understand where I'm coming from. Players could care less what old heads have to say.

I agree, I think a big part is being an NFL player comes with a lot of outside distraction and the focus must be on improving your skills to contribute to your team. With team success come even more personal accolades or stardom. I think these players do want to win, I don't think guys playing through the pain of injuries is done without some passion to play this game.

That is the message I'm sure McCarthy and his staff preach. But, the only voices that hold weight are Jerry and Stephen Jones. They definitely don't say these things to their teams year to year.

I don’t believe that for one second. They’re all striving to reach the level of success he did. Emmitt has three Super Bowl rings and a bust in the Hall of Fame. Young players listen to players like that. The problem with some young players today is they’re only interested in making a lot of money. They push hard for the second contract and once they get it the foot comes off the gas.
