They will care, just a little less about the regular season

This is what it has come to, we are unable to enjoy the regular season success bc we all know that it matters zero until this team learns how to win in the playoffs.

This is the curse of being competitive each yeah...if we were like a Jacksonville or Detroit that suck nearly every year, getting to 11 or 12 wins would be amazing, but as the cowboys who make it to .500 nearly every year and get in the playoffs every 2 to 3 years, the regular season is just losing meaning.

Always!!
More than ever because I believe Jerry has mortality staring him in the face and MM will be gone before you can spit.
Dan Quinns excitability is contagious and that alone will raise this team.
Now we just need to use Dak correctly and a OL coach, which Dan will bring.

I get that, and the bit about Quinn and Parsons gives me hope. However, as for ownership, unless Jerry has a clause to sell the team in his will, I don't know if things will change that much.

I will, but not enough to drive me insane. Since about 2000, I've gone into protect-me mode. A game like our playoff loss to SF would have destroyed me in the 70s or 80s. Not anymore. I want this team to win, but if they do something stupid like throw away a season on sloppy play and penalties, I just roll my eyes and say, "Here we go again." If I cared too much, it would drive me mad.

However, if you’re asking me if I’m buying what Jerry sells every training camp, the answer is no. I’ve been a “I will believe it when it happens” fan for a long time.
Same here Bob, same here.

I'm no longer emotionally invested in the team. While I get hyped for some games, & watch them all, I don't get too bummed when we lose anymore. I've come to expect it, & have admittedly turned pretty cynical when it comes to the Cowboys.

I guess like most, we didn't realize how good we had it years ago. At the end of the '95 season, we had played in 8 Super Bowls & 16 Conference Championships. That's a pretty remarkable record to that point. When we played in the '95 NFC Championship, we had been in more than 1/2 of them..?! To not make it to one since, sucks.

If you'd have told me then, that we'd be sitting here in 2022 without having played in another Conference Championship....I wouldn't have believed you.

Well, you always want your team to do it's best and have success. Of course I get no direct kickbacks from them winning a Super Bowl, but it sure would be fun to brag about as a fan...wouldn't it? I'll be back too. I've already sank my heart into this team, and as much as I've joked about being done with them, I never will be.

We've all been picking up and reading the same book for 25 years. We know how it ends. Just for once, wouldn't it be nice to get that fairytale ending?

No we know how other seasons have ended some season 5-11 some much better like 13-3. Yes we have seen heartbreakers in post season from Romo dropping the snap on the FG to Dez catch/non catch. While many focus on 25 years or more I don't, I focus on the here and the now, this upcoming season has absolutely nothing to do with this past season. I know the team will not be exactly the same, we will lose some players and add some players. Frankly based on a lot of comment around here I think people makes themselves miserable with this wow me attitude, Oh Dallas will never win. BS. I take every season as it own and while I'm very disappointed in the outcome of this season it will not sway me to what may or may not take place in the future

I get that man. I'm not going to hold anything against you on how you view and/or approach each season. I just think most of us around here would, at very least, like to see a deep playoff run. That's all. We're not asking for much (or so it seems).

As do I. I'm not not concerned about what took place in another season. When I was younger and playing sports I never cared about what I did the year before or the year before that I only cared what was in front of me because it was the only thing I could control what is in front of me not behind me. As an avid golfer I continue to view things that way, because my last round was good or bad has nothing to do with the round I'm about to play. I focus on now anything else is a waste of time and energy

They've been Jerry's zombie mob for over 25 years. Why would next year be any different?

They will chant his name in camp next year. Like they always do.

…..I thought that chanting was only done on the Jerry Springer show

Since free agency became the normal way of the league, it really doesn't matter or make sense to, as you say, "care" .. We're all just rooting for a set of uniforms anyway.

What's your take on the Bills......?
I was just talking about the Bengals history of being in the Superbowl. All 3 times it was against a West Coast team and lost... Not sure about the Bills. I was just curious about the Bengals superbowl history before the game last Sunday so I did a Google search prior.. It was the nerd in me... LOL I always have been and always will be a Dallas Cowboys fan first... but "curiosity killed the cat" you might say.... LOL

Still fun as crap to watch it all unfold. We just have to accept the fact that the game has changed alot and not to my liking I'm afraid.

Do I really have to define “care” to you?
Different levels of care.

How much did they care this past season supporting the team with nothing to show for it for 2.5 decades? Think this season was unusual?

There are different levels of fans, some are diehards and spend money with the team every season, and still complain as we have evidence of that here in the Zone. Some, like me, only invest their time and I am watching football anyway.

It's the same movie with the same ending. Fans are pissed and that wears off and they're right back at it and that's fine, they're fans and there is no logic attached to being a fan.
