Blue.......you're fighting the wrong person (lol). IMO DLaws fate has already been decided, either he's t a pay cut or getting released but no way in he'll continue playing under the current deal. Call Stephen Jones........lol
IM saying explain how any of you think this is happening and why, its not been written. thats the debate.

i dont think he can be cut fiscally because his replacement would cost money there's no savings its actual would be a red ink move and you are not improving the position with his being cut cap savings..show me the numbers prove you believe if he doesn't take pay cut hes being released. I say it wont happen.

2023 yes not this year.

Wow....what a garbage class.

I'm actually not gonna complain about bargain bin shopping this time around.

I noticed that while many are long in the tooth, there's several edge players on that list.

Also IIRC @Cowboyny posting something about 17 of the top 100 draftees are edge rushers.

That may very well work against Gregory, but Jerry will still probably bid against himself and overpay one of his long time projects.....the big contract validates the pick after all.

really ? maybe some age but there's at least 15 of those names that can help Dallas..pretty much the same as any year..

FA is always risk most of the talented big names up in age or coming off injury or had " contract year " etc etc Huge spending in FA isnt smart now there's a line to the jones do it and going overboard so im hoping they step up a little higher at times but last year paid off IMO. i mean compare our FA class to the huge dollars NE spent which i believe was a record and tops for 2021 and did they finish any better then us? Nope and did we beat them , Yes..

theres debates from all sides on what approach to take i think being in the middle is the best place. Most of the top FA spending teams dont see a payoff.

please doubt say the rams most of these big moves were trades..some Fas yes but most were trades and basically giving up their entire top half of the draft..

One player who looks like a nice fit may be Oluokun.

Obviously familiar with the Quinn scheme.

He should probably command something like 3/25 with half guaranteed. That sound right?

Dunno if they do that, but it would fill an obvious need.

If you can pay Neal 5m for the performance he turned in, I dont see why not, but the cap is a real thing I've heard lol.

Most FA classes include a handful of guys worthy of a tag. I see one here.

This is the top 30, and many of them have been in the league forever, and this would be a third contract.

Those are fill in types at this point. I don't see many building blocks.

Of course they would help Dallas, but I'm not gonna be ripping the FO for not getting on the top guys. Not this time around.

Well, there is 30 players that won't be on the Cowboys roster. :muttley:

I need to go look at all the teams FA's list yet. But plenty of time to do that over the next few weeks.
Any good links? I have not done a search yet. Had a few saved from last year, and need to click on them to see if they still work for this year.

Why wouldn't we get any of those guys on that list. I've heard for the last 2 years that certain mammoth contracts mean nothing to the salary cap.....oh yes, read it many many times in defending the value of players

Not the answer.

We keep missing the players we need. Reader two years ago was the last one. He's worth 13 mil/season much more than DLaw is worth 20.

You’re not alone. I’m having that same feeling. My gut says that they could talk to Von Miller about ‘coming home’ to finish his career and let both Lawrence and Gregory go and draft future replacements.

I’d take this in a heartbeat. I’m ready to cut the cord on a few of these guys whose value isn’t living up to their contracts and who have kind of instilled what I find to be iffy leadership. Issue is the Jones boys always overvalue them.

A LOT of very very good safeties on that list should give us a lot of leverage with Kearse and Hooker

I’d sign Hooker and Wilson to decent deals and let Kearse test the market. I think he’ll be disappointed

Hooker and Kearse sound so much better, imo. It's funny how no one is talking about Kazee. Unfortunately, being tight with Quinn, he may be the one we retain. He will probably be cheaper as well.

Dude was absolute trash last season.

The Patriots game where Bourne scored the TD shouldve been a simple pick. His open field miss on the sideline against Jackson on Thanksgiving was terrible. After his arrest his play went downhill. I was one of the most excited people on the board for his signing. But no thank you.

This guy is one of my fav NFL Twitter. Love how he cuts through the fat. Kinda reminds me of Albert Breer at MMQB

IF we somehow lose DLaw and Gregory, Haason Reddick, EDGE, Carolina Panthers tops my list as a replacement if we could afford him. Love his game.....

https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nfl-free-agents-j-c-jackson-tyrann-mathieu-von-miller/

Unfortunately, our biggest hope is that we resign both Gregory/Kearse off that list. What I have noticed, there are a ton of NT's this year, let's hope it drives their price down and we are able to land a good one.

I always thought Miller would finish here....just wonder if he thinks he is close to the end. I can see him getting a decent offer and our FA rusher money is probably earmarked for Gregory.

We all know Jerry's decade long experiments.

It would be cool to reverse the Ware thing....aside from the fact that...ya know....Miller has already won twice.

He is another small linebacker, which suggests to me, Dean could be high on Quinn's wishlist for the draft.

Who would you personally rather give the money to? Gregory? Or Von Miller?

I have no idea but I know that

1. every single one of the safeties on that list is better than him

2. also that Kearse is a product of Quinns scheme

I would let him test the market and set his price for a 2-3 year deal before deciding to match or not

Same here. He had a career year in Quinn’s system. He is likely not as good outside of it.

Nice to dream but until we see who is tagged and who is resigned before March 16th then the list is sort of what does it matter. We just don't know who will be available and who won't. And the bigger question is who will Dallas resign. Will Dallas get Randy Gregory resign, and how about Jayron Kearse or anyone else before March 16th? Things are going to change a lot between now and the start of free agency.
