Cut: Lawrence(post June 1), Jarwin, Zuerlein
Restructure: Dak, Cooper, Martin, Collins
(These moves free up roughly 70 mil)
Would love to keep Tank, but he is a very good player that is paid like a great 1. If I’m paying a player for passing rushing ability the next 3/4 years I’ll take Gregory at a cheaper price

Resign: Gregory, Kearse, Neal, Watkins, Wilson, Hooker, Turner, Gifford, D. Thompson, Anger
We will have to pay up to keep Gregory and Kearse, but I don’t think the rest of these guys will cost a significant amount or have a big competing market and fill a roll and/or provide depth for us.

Sign: Ted Karras, Sebastian Joseph-Day, Kyzir White, Mo Allie-Cox
Karras is a proven solid starter at both G and C. Joseph-Day is a 1 tech that solidifies the run D. White is a Mike Lb that can play sideline to sideline and isn’t a liability in zone. Mo Allie-Cox is a large athletic human that brings both run blocking and solid reviving threat to the 2nd TE spot.

Draft: Trade back for an early 2nd and 3rd, we include a 5th

2- LB Quay Walker Georgia- Parsons shifted to pass rusher and the Cowboys draft another giant, athletic and physical LB
G Zion Johnson Boston College- Doesn’t jump off the page in any category, but is a proven solid as a rock solid starting G.
3- TE Charlie Kolar Iowa St- Big athletic and soft handed TE. Blocking needs work but immediate receiving threat
DE Dominique Robinson Miami Oh- Converted WR with huge potential. Needs to hit an nfl weight room, but has the size, length, speed and bend of a high level pass rusher.
4- S Verone McKinnley III Oregon- Versatile S with zone coverage ability and likes to hit. Undersized or would be a higher pick
5- WR Velus Jones JR Tenn- slot wr with run after catch ability. Electric return man
6- RB Ronnie Rivers Fresno St- versatile undersized rb with good receiving skills

DE-Gregory
3 Tech- Gallimore
1 Tech- Joseph-Day
DE- Parsons
LB Quay Walker
LB- Kyzir White
Hybrid/TE Stopper - Kearse
CB1- Diggs
CB2- Brown
FS- Hooker
SS- Wilson

Bench-
DL- Osa, Gholston, Basham, Watkins, Hill, Dominique Robinson
Secondary- Lewis, Joseph, Wright, McKinnley III, Thompson
LB- Cox, Neal, Gifford

(25)
Is it a 4-3? 3-4? 3-3-5? Who cares. This D is versatile, fast and physical. Parsons and Kearse provide versatility for Quinn to be creative. Adding Joseph-Day, Kyzir White, and Quay Walker to the middle of the D finally shores up the run D that has been plaguing us. Would have loved to add a FS, but trying to keep it realistic. Hooker got healthy towards the end of the year and looked good, can be kept on a reasonable deal.

OL: Smith, Zion Johnson, Karras, Martin, Collins
Steele, Biadicz, McGovern, Alarcon, Ball

QB: Dak, Rush
RB: Zeke, Pollard, Ronnie Rivers
TE: Charlie Kolar, Mo Allie-Cox, McKeon
WR: Cooper, Lamb, Wilson, Velus Jones, Turner

(24)
Ted Karras and Zion Johnson upgrade LG and C and sure up the o-line. O-line depth also is drastically increased. Kolar and Allie-Cox as the TE combo might take some time, but should develop into a really solid duo. Dak, Zeke, Cooper and Lamb keep the status quo of our playmakers that should dominate

Specials: K(UDFA), Anger, McQuaide, Goodwin

Need to search far and wide for a reliable K

First bravo for all of the work you put into your offseason and mock.

2nd are we trading back because our board was completely wiped out or do you just prefer getting as many top 100 players as possible?

Kyzir White, Mo Allie-Cox
Love these two free agent signings...

White is better version fo what they wanted Neal to be. Allie-Cox was a basketball convert that I've been wathcing for a while.

Not a fan of the draft though. Too many "depth" players and not guys, outside of Zion, I see as eventual starters. I like Kolar but that seems early for him. His blocking makes Dalton Schultz look like Anthony Munoz.

it’s early so not going to pretend to have watched everyone or done all of the research…but I’m finding it hard to come up with more than 20 players that are definite 1st rounders for us. A lot of good players bunched up in that middle 21-50 ranking range tho imo and I’d love to get 2 of them.

You’re not a fan of Quay Walker at all?

And agreed that Kolar’s blocking needs a lot of work, but a guy that is that big, fluid and has that good of hands is always going to be valued highly. If he can improve his blocking to just adequate he’ll be a high level starting TE in my opinion. He kinda reminds me of Dallas Goedert coming out

I agree. I like most everything leading up to the draft. I’m not a fan of it at all.

Good reasoning. I do really like your 2nd round picks. I might have gone a different route in round 3. I do like the TE out of Ohio State Ruckert in the 3rd over Kolar, but Kolars size and catch radius is very tempting

What do you dislike about Quay Walker? You don’t think he’s top 40 worthy?

Dominique Robinson is a big risk so I can understand disliking that pick.

I like Ruckert (along with Ferguson) as 4th round options. Personally I think Kolar’s ceiling is much higher, even if Ruckert’s floor is higher. But to each their own, I wouldn’t be upset with Ruckert at all.

With no real stand out stud in this TE class I suspect opinions on the 10 or so prospects that are in the 2-4 round range will vary greatly.

I don’t like the plan about ‘shift Parsons to pass rusher’. It’s not a dislike of Walker. I’d much rather get a for certain actual pass rusher and get the linebacker in round two or three.

Good work! Don't know much about the FA signings, would like to hear your thoughts on why you chose them.

Fair enough. Personally I think the pass rusher position is too important to not utilize a guy with elite skills there. Not saying he’d never drop back as a LB, but I’d want to see Parson’s rushing the passer 60+% of the time. Dropping Paraon’s back as a LB is like getting an aged ribeye and grinding it up as hamburger meat imo…you can fill the MLB much easier than finding a 15+ sack guy. But obviously it would be important to fill the MLB as well.

Completely reasonable take.

I loved how they utilized Parsons throughout most of 2021. Of course I’d like him involved in rushing the passer as much as possible, but I also want to spare him the wear and tear of engaging with offensive linemen in the running game.

cowboys wont trade out of 1st rd unless they get a huge offer.

Ted Karras is a solid C/G out of the Patriots organization. 21 starts at C and 18 at LG. Only 4 career holding penalties and 2 false starts. May not be an all-pro, but a solid reliable starter

Sebastian Joseph-Day 6’4 305 lb strong tough guy who played a big part in the Rams run D and keeping as many doubles off Donald as possible in ‘19 & ‘20. More of a 2 down player, but will make an impact in the run game. Missed a lot of this year with a pec injury that should hopefully help the price tag.

Kyzir White- think of him as a younger, healthier Keanu Neal. He’s a bit undersized as a traditional LB but he plays fast and physical and can cover TE’s.

Mo Allie-Cox is a physical force that is 1 of the better blocking TE’s in football. Was a legit college basketball player so has enough athleticism to be a receiving threat…especially in the redzone.

I expect very similar usage to what we did last year with Parson. Which is why I think we can pick between Gregory or Lawrence instead of needing both. Basham or Golston can play DE on snaps Parsons plays LB.

Agree, and if nothing else having Parsons on the line makes the Offense think and plan for his very presence. Parson's such an athlete he can drop into coverage from Edge (if necessary).
