This forum is hilarious.

  1. Keep a high salaried player.....FORUM: Idiot GM!, "we like out guys" whaaaaa
  2. Cut a high salaried player....FORUM: Idiot GM!, "how do we replace him"....whaaaaa

You are starting to cut at the heart of the matter.. Basically no matter what the Cowboys do, this forum is going to hate it.

There might have been some.. but not enough.. After the Denver game teams started playing the Cowboys to keep everything short.. Lots of deep safeties and even linebackers dropping deep. The theory being that we didn't have anyone who could consistently make them pay in the open field after the ball was dumped short. For the most part they were proven correct. Lamb has some nice moves after the catch but he's still not strong enough to break a lot of tackles once a grown man has hold of him. Cooper played too heavy and lost his YAC ability. Schultz never had any.. and Jarwin stayed hurt as did Gallup. The only people who really did any damage after the catch were Wilson and Turner.. whom everybody thinks of as JAGs. Because they kinda are. We also think Pollard could do some thangs out in the pattern but "Yard are Yards" refused to call his number very often. Instead we had Zeke on one leg lined up wide on many a play. Go figure..
The 2 deep safety look seems to be the new craze against”high powered O’s.”

The folks crying that Amari is being cut, deep-down know Dak isnt that guy…

Its not like he has special moments as a Cowboy. Dude had under 70 catches and 800 yards last year. That isnt worth $20m.

Yall couldnt wait to get Dez out of here and saw how that turned out

That I think is a big driver they’re not allowed to vocalize. Irvin was irate about this and you know he got in Jerry’s ear
I kind of think Irvin was calling out Dak too....saying QBs go to their top guys.

I mean it really is. I don't agree with cutting Cooper but its hilarious watching the same people who say we need to get rid of high priced underperforming players to all of a sudden be on the other side of the argument that we need him lol.

I don't agree with the move but this is not a typical "Cowboys move". Shocked they are doing it or considering it.

Understand this is a business and tough decisions have to be made but this doesn’t make us better if true lol. It’s going to be a long season.

It depends on what they do. Because I'm a fan of Cooper but there's a issue when road games come around or big time games come around he disappears. But he's surely not the only one and I guess for me I need see more big time decision being made. But if you are cutting Cooper just to keep doing the same things that's going to be a issue.

With Dez effectively being out of the NFL because he was washed up and could not cut it anywhere else?

Why would cooper restructure for less money when he can test a FA market that will highly covet his services? You need to think about it from all angles.

How are you a fan of the nfl and don’t understand what restructuring a contract means? We can reduce Amari’s cap hit by 9 mil next season and he doesn’t lose a dime

I like Coop too, but he’s mentally soft like most of the team.Things don’t go his way and pouts not giving 100% and fighting.

If the thought is to cut Cooper so we can keep Gallup, well that’s just stupid. If cutting Cooper allows us to rebuild another weak position, then maybe it’s a smart move. I just don’t see it. Maybe cutting Cooper allows us to find a way to keep Gallup, Lawrence, Gregory, Shultz and Kearse.

That's what I'm getting at though. If you are trying to change the culture and make up of this team then you can't just cut Cooper there needs to be a long list of guys who need to follow him.

I think cutting Cooper ultimately is done to keep a few guys like you listed. I don't think its meant to just retain Gallup. That would be at BEST a neutral move.

There's no excuse for not getting something in return. Contract, schmontract. Figure something out! This is a number one receiver you're letting just walk away

In all seriousness, how many of those throws were actually downfield? He seemed hesitant, especially the 2nd half of the season to throw anything other than check downs to RB’s or Dalton.Pass rush at times was a factor, but their were downfield openings.
Sure, checked down more this year bc of the degradation of our running game and the not stellar pass blocking he had in front of him.

But throwing the ball 600 times has never been considered "bus driver" qb'ing.

Brady made a career out of short passing in NE.
