Trevor Penning

I would do the same path as Flozel Adams. Start him inside and then kick him to Tackle after some development. Penning at Guard would create a consistent push and good luck of getting through his anchor. He is on my short list at 24 with a few others.

I don’t know that Penning has the feet to play LT but I think he would be a tremendous LG for this team with the ability to kick outside possibly to RT. The things that give his issues won’t be a problem on the interior. Will excel in the run game.

Exactly what I was thinking right before I read this. Definitely is athletic enough to play T but probably not ideal, much more so as a guard but if a team needs him in the future at RT he could do it the same way La'el did.

Just wait - by the time the draft rolls around, there will be 60 or so guys not available at #24.
It's a weird year. I can't list 15 guys I'm convinced will definitely be off the board at #24, much less 60, including Penning. But he's an athletic, long-armed 6-7 and 325-pounder who was being mentioned in round one before he ran at the Combine. Brugler had him at #19 on his Feb. 15 big board and both he and Sturm list his nasty attitude as one of his best attributes (Sturm also points out that Penning won't be bullying N. Illinois DE's in the NFL). Now he's put up a 4.89 forty. He has everything NFL teams love in a LT except for a big-school pedigree, and he may make it to #24 but looking at everything if I had to list 23 players gone by the time Dallas is up I think Penning would be one of them.

Ah. Five OL, not five OT. I didn't read carefully. Still, I could easily see more than five OL gone before 24, especially LT's, and I don't think it's a given that Linderbaum and Green will go before Penning. Daniel Jeremiah has Penning going #8. Your opinion is probably as good as his though, especially in this year's draft.

This may be a draft where its really hard to call. Alot of DE's, and WR's too. You also seem to have alot guys grading out better athletically than originally thought.

As far as the OL, Green and Penning could possibly be flipped too. Both are college OT's that could still play OT in the NFL. Green is more and NFL RT, whereas Penning could potentially play the left side. If teams look at both as OT's, Penning could go first. If they look at them as OG's, Green would probably go over Penning. Linderbaum is thought of as a top 20 lock, but Im not so sure. He is an OC only, and position value could have him going later than some think

Love for Green and Linderbaum to be sitting there at #24 but Dallas needs impact across the board and if OL are wiped out it means other good players get pushed down. Wish Travon Walker would slide.
