We need to build upon Micah put all resources into The defense . . . At this point its the Cowboys only chance . . . because no matter how many resources are thrown at the offense . . they cant carry the team
It's about choices.

Realistically we have two chances to improve....the first round of the draft and the second round of the draft.

Guys taken in the middle rounds last year......Golston, Wright, OO, Ball etc are gonna have to step up or we will feel it.

The reactions from the peanut gallery are on point. lol

Yes, a 25 year old TE who was probably our most consistent offensive player last year who ranked among TEs:

#3 in catches
#4 in TDs
#5 in Yards

Yes, let's let him go...we don't need him. We can just plug anyone in there, no problem.

Witten played way past His expiration date . . Jarwin looked like a superstar . . . and Now average Shultz put up some "STATS"

Yeah you pretty much can plug and play the TE in a Dak led offense

It's stunning how limited the Jones Boys are with roster mgt. They seemingly have no interest in actively managing personnel and looking for better player solutions to fill the lines of their depth chart.

Does Schultz really look like a franchise player? He is a hybrid TE. He can't block and is not very good in contested coverage.

Would rather they kicked the tires on Rudolf or some othe FA than break the bank for this guy.
I do think the QB had input on this decision. He's looking at a possible WR shakeup and Jarwin might be done, they need to keep a friendly face there for the QB. He is not the type QB they can just run a different receiving corps in on like they could Brady.

This really isn't the worst thing. The team is going to have so many holes that we have to at least retain somebody

It is absolutely crazy to me how ignorant this front office really is. Just one more horrid contract that will end up being an albatross to the team.

Jerry REALLY needs to get some help outside of the family for evaluations and contracts, so he can FIRE them when they fail, or at least hold them accountable.

STOP REWARDING FAILURE........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They need to get away from relying on the QB. He has not been good in that role when facing upper echelon teams.

The OL and running game should be the focus on offense. I would have signed a big, athletic TE who can block and effectively use his body as pass catcher.

Dumbest move ever. Tag Schultz but let Cooper and Tank walk. Take your chance in the draft or in free agency for TE.

Those are the good types . . . How much do they cost?

As would I but neither of us would have paid the QB 160M.

Once that was in place, everything became about making him worth that for ego reasons. They're not letting Cooper go because of money but because he failed to make their star a bigger star.

Schultz helped Prescott and Cooper made a veiled comment about targets and the owner even made a comment about the route running of the WR's. Cooper's strength. This was over before the season ended.

maxie, this is not going to be a running team. He did not pay the QB and spend a 1st on a WR and pay a receiving TE 10M, unless they work a long term deal, to be a run team.

The fact is Schultz is a good receiver and if they are going to remain a passing team, 61%, they can't let Cooper, Gallup, Wilson and Schultz walk.

Schultz became Prescott's Witten and they need to keep the receiving corps together as much as they can for the continuity and familiarity.

And for insurance purposes, Schultz is a good deal. I have more confidence in him to be a very good receiving TE more than Lamb to be a #1WR. They need to keep Gallup as well and a lot won't like that but the QB will. And that's what this is all about.
Great point.

My dislike for the move centers around getting the run game fixed.

If they are going to continue to feature Dak Prescott as a pure pocket passer another overpayment to whoever doesn't much matter.

This was expected, but it's my understanding more of a place holder. I don't like it, but understand their thinking. You lose your #1 WR and top two TE's, an already struggling offense could get much worse.

Another mistake. No one was a bigger proponent of Schultz when he was draft eligible than I was, and I think he's a good player. But, he's good enough to let go and not concern yourself too much over losing. At an 11M per season salary? Huge mistake, but not surprising given the front office.
NOT ENOUGH likes available for this post... big mistake on a guy I like.

what is our other options? McKeon? he suck. royally. we have no other TE on roster. if there was other options similar to Schultz I wouldn't mind chasing. however we can have the tag, perhaps chase another FA TE if viable and then remove the tag. right now he is the top FA TE available in the market.
