I do not blame Denver for making this trade because they have a really good team outside of the quarterback position.

Denver is a much better team with him, but I am probably one of the few people who think Wilson is on the decline and, while he is still a really good quarterback right now, there is no way I would have traded multiple first round picks for him.

I think his supporting cast was on the decline and he wasn't happy there anymore. I think he'll have a big year in Denver.

I think he will have a great year because that team is really talented and he is still a really good quarterback. I just hope they get enough good years out of him to justify the costs.

I think they have the same mentality as the Rams, pull out all the stops now.

I agree, Wilson has declined but he's better than what DEN had and with Rodgers off the table, they had to move.
No question he is a big upgrade for them and with the rest of the talent they have it they are a really good team now.

Carson Palmer comes to mind. Traded to the Raiders due to conflicts, was so-so, then traded to the Cardinals and dominated; had his best seasons there.

Favre is another trade, he got pushed out by Rodgers, had the Jets at 8-3 before he got injured, then brought the Vikings to 12-4 the next year.

Montana traded to Chiefs, they had 2 strong years and made the AFCCG.

It’s not something that should be done unless in very unique circumstances though.
Other than with Palmer I'm not sure these teams didn't think their QBs were near the end. Favre was going to be 39 years old the season he was traded, and Montana was going to be 37 and had only started 1 game the previous 2 years because of injury and the success of Steve Young.

But you're right unique circumstances came into play. With Palmer he said he was going to retire and didn't show up to training camp, so the team drafted Dalton. When Dalton played well they traded Palmer. With Favre he had left Green Bay hanging on whether he would retire or come back every off season for several years, so the team finally decided they were tired of that. With Montana, as mentioned, age, injury and Steve Young were all factors.

There was an article last week that he puts a ton of his money into his body because he wants to play until 45. I think he’s got 3-5 yrs myself if in the right situation.

Every quarterback wants to be Tom Brady and play until 45 but the reality is that is not the case.

Of course many quarterbacks can still play at 45, but at nowhere near the level they played in their 20s and early 30s.

Trade two first rounders for a safety then trade away your QB a year later.

Almost makes the Jones show look competent.

At least Seattle admitted the mistake. We don't do that, we just like to pretend it was the plan all along.
