ITS A PASSING LEAGUE! We were 4th or 5th in pass protection, but the offensive line is the problem on offense? We simply live in a society where the truth actually bothers people!!

We get bad OL play - paying a premium

Might as well try another approach
Great point!

New Approach: Spend money trying to build the most dominant D possible, and replace LG and C, with an early draft pick and a mid round draft pick or thru other means( Free Agency, trade, etc. )

Dominant D will still win Superbowls!!!!!

He gave up one sack his whole college career at tackle. Maybe just maybe he was born to play the tackle position. I'd laugh my butt off if this guy goes to another team and becomes an pro bowl tackle.
Why? You are at the point you self hate your favorite team? Yikes

Continuity … yet, they likely have 2-3 new starters. SMH McCarthy. Plus Martin and Smith likely gone by 2023

Continuity over the course of a season, not continuity game to game. There is a strength in having the same 5 guys week in and week out practicing together versus having to reshuffle the OLine every week so no one has a great feel for the guy next to them.

So, you think he's one of the two best G's in football at this point? That's what it means to be All Pro G.
Let's be clear, Quinten Nelson has the #1 spot when healthy. If he player RG, Martin would not have a shot at Pro Bowl.
If you just consider first team starters, that's 64 G's. You don't think he might really be like the 5th best starter at this point in his career? Now if you narrow it down to just RG, that does eliminate half the field & some of the better candidates. But it doesn't change the fact that he isn't the player he once was.
Jesus what an awful take.

You complain that Martin is living off of his previous work but then list Quenton Nelson whose literally regressed heavily the last 2 seasons (Rush and pass blocking have gone signficantly down since 2018-2019 and has a combined 14 penalities the last 2 seasons which is awful, Martin has 3 in that same span).

Nelson making 2nd team all-pro this season is the definition of living off of the past, NOT Zack Martin

It is really sad that anyone who supposedly watched this team last year thinks he was the best G in football.
He's on the All Pro team because he was HOF level early in his career & his name now gets him there.
Martin arguably has the best season he's had since 2018 ??? (where is this signficant drop off ? He played better than both 2019 and 2020 in 2021 ?)

Let's be clear, Quinten Nelson has the #1 spot when healthy. If he player RG, Martin would not have a shot at Pro Bowl.
- Nelson hasn't been healthy since 2019

- Nelson plays in the AFC, him playing RG would literally have NOTHING to do with Martin making the NFC Pro bowl roster...... (do you even listen to yourself talk ? What are you talking about ?).

Even with age and injuries, the only two offensive linemen on this team you can't replace talent-wise are Smith and Martin. Even with McGovern/Steele replacing Williams/Collins, if you give them enough time to work together, you'll get a decent o-line. We did it to ourselves last year with all the stupid shuffling.

His play has been declining & since the team is almost certainly not going anywhere the next few years it would be in the best interest of the team & the player to trade him now.

Martin is still solid, and overall still one of the better OGs in NFL , but yeh, he's not on the HOF dominant as many like to think he is now ..

Let me help you since you seem to be confused. Per a July 2020 article, Nelson has been rated as the top lineman by his peers two years in a row. Not just best G but best offensive lineman.
"Colts' All-Pro OG Quenton Nelson Ranked 33rd on the 'NFL Top 100' Ahead of the 2020 Season. It marks a consecutive season in which Nelson was ranked the league's best offensive lineman overall." In the rankings prior to the 2021 season, he was ranked #13. So, according to his peers he is getting better, not worse.

Secondly, this is the definition of All Pro. "An All-Pro in football is a label given to a player who is the best player at their position for that season, regardless if they are in the AFC or NFC." Which is exactly why I said that if QN played RG Martin would have no shot at getting first team All-Pro. Which is the only designation that actually makes a player All-Pro.

As for health, QN has played 16 games every year except last year. Last year, he clearly didn't pay at his best & thus was not named first team All Pro. Which is how things should work.

Finally! Another failed 2nd round pick by JJ and company. He’s been garbage ever since he’s been here. Wish I had a dollar for every step he’s been driven back on the o-line.

Exactly. But you state the obvious & people act like you have committed some unforgivable sacrilege.

Declining doesn't mean bad. It just means he's not as good as he once was.

I'd laugh, because they never gave him a chance to play the position he play in college. The guy wasn't 300 pounds or very strong. What made them think he'd be a good guard? I'd love to hear one of the Jones answer that question.

Rebuild is coming. Heard MM talk about how important continuity is with the OL. Both Tyron/Collins have struggled badly with availability. Tyron isn't on the chopping block yet cause there isn't a viable replacement on the roster yet.

Could be, but we'll have to see how Ball develops. I'd prefer they give it a year before investing highly in a replacement for Smith. If we're letting Collins go, though, I don't know if we want to absolutely count on Ball being the swing tackle for Smith and Steele. I guess we could get a cheap vet for that role.

Guard becomes the biggest concern because the starting spot comes down to McGovern or Farniok with Williams leaving and us either trading or cutting Collins (who probably wasn't being considered for it anyway). It definitely becomes an early draft priority. I was hoping that we'd move Collins there so we could spend the first-rounder on continuing to bolster the defense. Frankly, I'd be OK with cutting Collins and using the savings to bring in a top-notch vet guard, so we are not just treading water, but the Joneses sadly won't do that.
