Wow we got rob should have just kept him. This is horrible. We dont sign any big names but we trade away players in their prime for crumbs. We badly need a new FO.

Agreed, I’m not quite getting the outrage, the key to this was unloading the contract. When it becomes public a player is gonna be cut you’re not gonna get a lot if anything in return. And Cooper although a good WR is not worth the contract.
Everyone in the NFL knew Cooper was getting released this year the moment he signed his contract in Dallas. Teams were just waiting him out.

Gallup will be lucky to get 10 million annually with his bum knee. I think the delay is the Cowboys writing a whole bunch of performance and health based incentives into his deal.
Pretty sure Gallup deal now gets done.........

The Cooper Trade just increased Gallups leverage......Now Jerry and Stephen HAVE to sign Gallup....what a stupid move by the Cowboys.....Should of signed Gallup first....then made the trade....:huh::facepalm::huh::huh:

I mean we got what? 4 years out of Amari? HE was worth the 1st for those years. Not to mention that draft kind of stunk for where we drafting. So who knows.

Its a steal for the Browns though..just being honest, now the real question is what in the heck did Amari do to anger the football gods..Raiders, Cowboys, Browns...thats a who is who list of horribly run teams.

How much compensation did you think we'd get for a player we are about to cut?
You could move #s around to open money you didn't have cut no one. Once WRs start falling from the sky due to injury you can trade him away then when value is up. If this was the other way around we would have given a 2nd no doubt.

Salary dump and setting next year up to be disappointing so you can make a run at a new coach. Next season may not be anything to look forward to.

I think this means the team believes CeeDee is the best receiver on the team.

No it doesn’t. CeeDee had too many drops and didn’t step up in certain situations. This move came down to saving money. Would have much rather lost Zeke than Cooper.

Give me a break on all the ranting on the GMs. I’m no Jones Clan fan, but IF there was a higher pick available, they would have gone for it. People act like they purposefully want to be fleeced. LOL. Like Aikman always says — Being a starter on this team leads to being overrated. If Coop was worth it to a team, they would have ponied up. What worries me is what this says about our #2 and #3, one of which we’re about to land with a large contract.

Remember at the time we made the trade, it was a weak draft for WRs and a guy name Allen Hurns was the No 1 starter. The root of this started with releasing Dez. Not asking him to take pay cut but flat telling him we want you gone.

Cowboys gave up a lot for three-plus seasons with Amari Cooper

You have the feeling if we were to open up trade talks for Micah Parsons we'd start negotiations with a 2nd round ask.

Hmmmm....

Which of the remaining WRs will be next season's sacrifice?

Gallup, because he has a new contract?
or
Lamb, because of the high draft pick used on him and/or he will be due for a payday in the near future. (bonus reason... "sacrificial Lamb" has a nice ring to it)

My early prediction is Lamb.
Lamb is under his rookie deal.....he won't be "sacrificed" lol.

The Amari trade was horrible in hindsight.

We won nothing. It saved Dak's career and got him one of the biggest contracts in NFL history. Then we end the Cooper era with a 5th round pick.
I thought it was stupid at the time.

Exactly, the damage was done by the product on the field not this trade...again trading him was the right thing to do....letting you staff ignore him so much is what made his value from a 1st to a 5th..thats the crime here.
