During his time in Dallas, Amari Cooper was a top 10 receiver by every major WR measure.

Amari Cooper - Cowboys Career

Rec 292 7th
Rec yds 3,893 9th
Rec TD 27 9th

It's not like the guy was a bum.

Truth is Jerry the lazy GM didn't work the phones......and played his hand like a schmuck. He basically showed his hand to the table...then tried to bluff.

Yes.....Jerry Jones is that stupid.....and needs to be fired. :banghead:

It is not showing your hand, EVERYONE knew he had to trade Cooper when they had not announced they were reworking the deal. About the only way to bluff would have been to actually rework the deal and then maybe you could get a higher pick because you are taking on a larger dead money hit. However, as it stands he is an overpaid player that you obviously want to cut which means that the only reason you would give up a pick is if you want to dodge dealing with free agency which the Browns did but were not willing to give up much.

Ehhh I’ll take my 5th and the cap space over letting him go to Philly or Washington and destroy you twice a year

Its definitely the right move. But the fact it’s only a 5 says there wasn’t much of a bidding war, which implies they didn’t exactly consult Amari about which of the suitors he preferred.

Again the trade was the right move vs releasing him....what you have done with him leading up to this trade is the crime...."We gonna release him"...just kidding trade me a 2nd for him"...jesus how did he make billions in business?

Value could have been low because maybe he wasn't willing to re-do his deal. Thats my guess.

Mike Fisher wrong again. Shocking. He poo pooed the notion . Does he ever get anything right? We get rid of the salary while getting fleeced. We damn well better have a plan to bring in a replacement that is capable of filling his shoes.

They cut Dez because he was not as good as he thought he was. Tell me about all the success Dez had after he was cut. He played in the regular season for one team 3 years later with the worst WR corp in the NFL and was not a standout in that group. He was done.
Yes

Ignore the fact that he tore his achilles and was 31 years old at the time

Be man enough to admit you made a mistake and move on. Its not even that big of a deal. You GOOFED.
Not only will I not admit I made a mistake I will say it again with an implied exclamation point.

Hmmmm....

Which of the remaining WRs will be next season's sacrifice?

Gallup, because he has a new contract?
or
Lamb, because of the high draft pick used on him and/or he will be due for a payday in the near future. (bonus reason... "sacrificial Lamb" has a nice ring to it)

My early prediction is Lamb.

You're doing what you always do. Ignoring context and nuance and arguing semantics. Your youthful hubris doesn't allow you to see this so you keep on going and going on going and going. You argue just to argue. To *******ize Rene Descartes' famous quote, 'you argue therefore you are'.

Now go do your homework. '

40M of the 60M was already paid, only 20M left for a 27 year old WR1 is very manageable and tradable
Might read his contract again
20 mil a year for 3 years
They can restructure but he is still gonna get 60 mil
He had 60 mil guaranteed not a 60 mil contract
5 yr/100 mil
There is still 60 mil left on it

So simple a child could understand.

Does anyone know the cap savings of releasing him vs the trade or is it the same?
