In a way, I have to admire the Cowboys. The Browns thought they were going to steal him for a 5th round pick. We told them not going to happen. Swap 6ths too or get bent.

The Browns blinked.

When we are selecting 9 spots higher in that round next month tip your cap to our front office.

There's a 6'7" corner with that pick's name all over it.

You guys whining about the fifth round pick and moving down in the sixth don’t get it at all. You are comparing apples and oranges. Dallas was never going to keep him, never going to pay him 20 million. They would have restructured him last year. They gave him what he wanted to try and win while also seeing whether Ceedee would look like a #1. They structured it into a 2 year contract with no further guaranteed money.

Most teams in this position get zip for a player when other teams know he will be released. Most players, yes even great ones, end up released to free agency in this situation. The Browns have less room than teams like Washington and didn’t want a bidding war after he was released. Read some reports. We are getting a higher grade for this trade than the Browns because we did better than most teams have ever done in this situation.

I don't know, how many 5th rounders can you name on the current roster that are difference makers? Not so sure they got anything other than cap relief and Dumb and Dumber put themselves in that situation by handing him a 100 million contract to begin with
20+ million relief for a part timer. They can replace 865 yards.

But I get this is a lot for some fans to stomach.

absolutely they deserve criticism. Of course. They don’t however deserve to be traded and promoted in ceedee’s case. Criticism is more than fair but acting shocked that the player didn’t put up numbers that reflect his pay when he was ranked 40th in targets and then using that as a metric to trade him for a domino’s pizza?..........malpractice.
His performance wasn’t the only reason he was traded. This team has serious salary cap issues. They had a decision to make. Keep Cooper and possibly rework his deal or trade him if possible. I agree with trading him because I think he can be replaced in the draft and we could use his savings elsewhere. Where they use the money that’s a whole other story. As much as I think he is overrated, if this team were not in such a salary cap bind I think he would probably still be here.

No, the #1 receiver is Lamb.

I love Lamb and he had the most catches but if you actually feed Cooper he is an easy #1. I’m fine with he and his salary going…he was fussy to me. But we got fleeced on the guy

The Cowboys had very little choice in the matter given Cooper's salary, his recent production and the Cowboys' salary cap issue. Also WR talent is much easier to find than QB talent, hence the higher price gotten for Wentz.

True on someone taking his salary. I just felt they gave up but oh well…not surprised at the outcome. Writing was on the wall

Hope I'm wrong but I'm highly skeptical that CeeDee will thrive with WR1 attention from opponents defenses. I'm also highly skeptical that Gallup if he signs with the Cowboys and that's not guaranteed will be available the whole season.

You can't seem to follow instructions AND have little understanding in
what opens up offenses. Plus, you're still hung up on the contract which, as
I said in the beginning, is in line with the cap.

Lockett? Moore!?! Goodwin? You meant Godwin, I'm hoping.
You completely forgot about Mike Evans!?!

But please, do go on, how many MORE WRs are "better" than Amari Cooper?
One other name that's on your list is Lamb. You know, the guy they're
expecting to replace Cooper.
Oh this myth that Cooper is opening up things for our offense. You think he’s worth his salary I don’t. You think he’s a #1 WR I don’t. Your hung up on the fact that I don’t think he’s the player you think he is. Where was all the interest for the player ? If his 20 m per year is in line with his talents where we’re the better offers to get his services ? Certainly a team with cap space and the need for a WR would have jumped to get the guy. Is it possible that your opinion of the player is higher than most people in front offices that do this for a living. Hmmm.

Same. WR is a huge need for us. Gallup is a big play guy, CeeDee is slot. Who moves the chains? Maybe we get another TE

Understood
However 1 number one pick for a player you only had for a handful of seasons sucks....
Not a good look by the front office...
Again....

Glad he’s going to the Browns. That’s huge for Baker and he will have no excuses now. If he fails with Coop, he’s probably gone.
