Gallup had leverage regardless. Its not about what the Cowboys are willing to pay but the next team. Even with Amari Cooper...he took less to play here over going to the Football Team.

Free agency isn't about getting "deals" and blue light specials. The market is dictated by what teams are willing to play players.
Sign another WR who is healthy.

Do not want another Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, and Jarwin like signing.

Gallup may play 4-6 games max this upcoming season.

Well signing hurt linebackers is one thing. Normally, these receivers have no issue coming back. Let's see what they sign him for but I have a feeling it will be a big deal.

Hardly think the money is the sticking point. Mike Williams got a 3 year 60m deal. Same age as Cooper.

Williams number over the last three years - 2903 yards and 16TD. Cooper has 3168 yards and 21TD. You can certainly argue that the Chargers overpaid for Mike Williams, but this is what good teams do with offensive players in which their QB's have confidence.

Apparently only the Browns were willing to take his contract with the $20M. Otherwise, our only options were to keep him and ask for a pay cut or release him.

I think they would of gotten value if they traded him last season, but now teams know they need the cap money and would rather sign him to a cheaper deal. Browns were the only ones willing to take on that original, market level contract. Question is, I know they are going to draft a WR somewhere within the top 3 rds, do they sign a fa starter?

terrible job with this. Restructure contract or just keep him. Unless there are things that happened that we don't know about this is just an absolute embarrassment. We are a worse ootball team today.
If you restructure the cap savings go down

Lol the player has to be willing to restructure.
That and it cuts the amount of cap savings
If you convert salary to bonus that bonus doesn’t follow him
You are basically paying for a higher pick

This team is awful at negotiating. Now we just gave Gallup a ton of leverage because he knows we have to pay him now.
99 percent chance that they sign Gallop and do a good job of using the entire cap to have a full roster and a good to great team on opening week.

Was it really tho? By next off-season $20 mil won’t be a top 10 paid WR either

Its funny when these analysts and reporters try and fit a narrative. Because if someone had said Cooper was a top 10 receiver when he was signed to the Cowboys you'd have someone post his stats in road games or against good teams to refute the claim.
