I just checked the poll and 80% disagree with getting rid of Cooper, including me.

As Helman said on the Break, Cooper is at top 10-12 WR in the league. Getting rid of him doesnt make your team better and he said even the Cowboys themselves dont think this move makes them better, but they think they can compensate the loss by using the resources to make other areas stronger.

I have my doubts.
I agree. I don't see this as making the Cowboys any better. Having CeeDee. "dropsies" Lamb as WR#1 is not reassuring, along with Gallup's availability at the beginning of the season...seems like a step backward. But, the Jones' know best!! NOT!! o_O

Yes

Never was a fan. Soft, mentally-weak, injury prone, and disappears too often.

I grew up watching Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant alpha types be the one leading our WR group.

Let him go for 6/100/2 tds against the Jags and then turn around and go 1/13/0 tds against the Ravens, in Cleveland

Although you may be right on some points, I usually default to blaming the QB/Game plan when a WR disappears, not the WR. Some quarterbacks need great WRs, some quarterbacks make great WRs. Terrell Owens was the highest paid decoy until Romo took over. OBJ looked washed up until he went to the Rams.

About as wishy-washy as it gets. The question was "are you glad he isn't a Cowboy" anymore. You have no $$ interest. Do you think it is good he is not on the team if money weren't a factor? Easy answer for any sane individual. Without $ in the equation only dopes would answer YES...

whatever dude, that is my answer accept it or not.
other than that, just go away.

You can't answer without an insult, then you are the DOPE!

I'd love to believe we'd use these 'cap savings' to improve the team, like maybe shifting this to a defensive team, but you have to just look at history to see where this team is going.

We're going to overpay Gallup because he has all the leverage, and based on what we seen last season, he could be injury prone now or not even be the same player after ACL. Then we're going to go bargain budget shopping for FAs. That's not a recipe for success when other teams like the Rams are going all in.

my question is if Amari is a dominant #1 WR, why was he now traded twice. to two depsarate teams. teams tend to hold on to their stars and dominant players. two teams weren't willing. is cooper good? yes. I am not saying he is not, but why is he always on the move

I like the talent Amari brought to the table, but how often did he show up in clutch games? Now sure, some of that could have been scheme, Dak being injured/slump, or the O-line/running game shutting down passing game too. There were lots of big plays when he got here. Those have tapered off significantly since then. Averaging less than 1000 yards a year and getting 18M ks a bit out of whack. I hope we can find a stud in the draft, or a solid veteran to fill those numbers in (like when we had Cobb) to lineup with Lamb and Gallup. We won’t miss his recent production with that kind of player.

And no one else besides Cleveland was willing to take on that salary! 30 teams with every opportunity to trade just a measly 5th as long as they take on the contract and did nothing.

I'm tired of sucking in every other area and pretending these overpaid "stars" are enough to make up for it. It's been a major problem here.

I’ll be honest I said Yes even though from a talent standpoint my head said no. Yes because, despite his talent, etc he disappeared in big games and was prone to sulk. The contract was bad. But I get “no” because guy was a route running savant that probably could have have been fed more.

The results of this poll are predictable. Since the vast majority of Cowboy fans are negative, this poll will say “no” by a landslide.

IMO, conventional wisdom would point to Cooper’s propensity to get open, to be clutch. We’ve certainly seen many examples of this. How many times has he saved our bacon? That said, I honestly think the connection has soured for two reasons: two many options and playcalling. The compensation for Honeymoon Cooper was LOUSY. A fifth and a 6th?!? But we freed up a chunk of cap, gained a 5th, and purged a malcontent. What they do with the change is key.

He’s a good player who was overpaid but I’m still not glad that a good player is gone.

Yes, we need a WR that gives his all every play, not one who decides to show up when they feel like it.

Ignore what the Cowboys got in trade. You can vote about the trade in Risen Star's poll thread.

This poll is simply asking .. Are you glad Amari Cooper is no longer on the Cowboys?
Yes - absolutely.

I'm glad he's gone, even as talented as he is. Dallas paid him to be a receiver who can produce, not a magician who has a habit of disappearing. He should have went to play for the Raiders because all the famous magicians love to perform in Las Vegas.
