The coaching staff wanted Steele to start the Jones’s kept pushing Collins. He’s been steam rolling downhill since his surgery. Good riddance give me the guy who’s 100% committed to football.
I have been a Steele fan since that one game (no clue who it was against, may have been giants) where we kept running it right and kept getting big chunks.

Even with Zeke running it on tosses.

It was one of the games in the first half of the season, have to go back and find it.

yup Giants. look at plays

Well in fairness, they have to do something before March 21st. On that date, $6.4 million of his base becomes guaranteed. So if they cut him after, the have to eat $6.4 million MORE in dead money.

So that's why they are likely to make a decision on him before March 21st.
Ohhhh I didn't get that. Makes more sense then lol

why is it a bad offseason?

Because they are getting worse and likely won't sign anyone of competent or better talent to fill in the holes they have created. It then depends on them having a home run draft to just make the team immediately better. This on top of replacing zero coaches from a team that spit the bit, again, in the first round of the playoffs.

This is one of the worst offseasons in recent memory.

Holy crap.
this offseason is just starting, sit back and relax, Jerry and Stephen got this, let's wait and see the total haul of players including the draft, by then you will be up waving your pom poms

LOL.

You are the type of fan Jerry counts on. The fan that will rationalize away most of what he and his son do yearly.

The point is clear. This team will be less talented in 2022 than 2021 unless they have a historic draft where they end up with All Pro types from their 4th and 5th round picks.
No.

I’m the type of fan who realizes it’s a game I do absolutely zero for. It’s fun.

I don’t get upset or let it ruin my day every time something happens I don’t want

It’ll be a June 1 designation and will save them 10 million

if they don't June post cut him, to save 10 mill, ..then it will sound like it's personal than business. Collins' current contract still sounds fairly team friendly.

- OL coach Philibin not fond of Collins at all
- Steele is Philibin pet project and favorite and a bigger push to start him over Collins
- Lael's Hip maybe could be seen as chronic. Thus bend, flex and anchor base not as idea in interior.
- How much past off field issues play into factor ? (suspension, bribery, reported out of shape in '20)

Same here. I believe in player development, and like guys who will work their tail off to improve. The jump from year 1 to 2 was big. Can’t wait to see him I. Year 3. Steele is 100% all in on football.

They hit big on FA last year, chill out, and see what happens

Collins proved to be unreliable. Why keep going down the same road?

We can easily free up whatever $ we want to.

We've already touched our two most management contracts to create space - Prescott and Martin.

There, of course, is Elliott's contract but that would be downright stupid to touch that contract.

Do the Joneses seriously think they're going to get a starting DE, starting LB, starting S, starting OG, 3rd WR, punter, and kicker all in one draft? Picking in the bottom third of each round?

How do they even plan on fielding a full team?!

Cowboys have their best team in a decade and the NFC has no powerhouses at the top…

…and we are losing talent instead of adding talent.

It’s day 1 of free agency. lol We’ll get to see just how overrated that talent was!

Hit "big" is a stretch. They found a couple of decent nuggets, that's it.

And last year didn't see the talent run off that we are seeing now before even signing anyone.

It's pretty clear short of a pretty awesome draft, the 2022 Cowboys will be less talented than the 2021 one. So the coaching is going to have to fill in the gaps.
