Lol, what a disgustingly run franchise this is.
10m a year is a STEAL in today's market but because we cannot keep our fat freaking mouths shut for one damn minute letting all and sundry know our plans we can't get any return.
Sell up Jerry you senile old fart.

Jerry said look unionjack I've got other problems like kids that are popping out of the woodwork

If Calvin Watkins is right, this is his first scoop ever. Think about that.

I’m not saying it’s a great move. Just that it will save 10 million and not 1 mil. Bottom line— Collins has had injury and suspension issues.

We could keep him— until the next injury or suspension occurs— or we can cut ties with him now while we have some time to figure out the OL via the draft or FA.

This offseason sux— but cutting ties with Collins is the decision I’m upset about the least

I'm ok with the 10 mil savings BUT we better get ready to draft 3-OL in this coming draft two in the first 3 rounds and a flyer late because we are
getting to the point we have Zak Martin and Terrance Steele. I'm not even counting the center I don't like him

Hit "big" is a stretch. They found a couple of decent nuggets, that's it.

And last year didn't see the talent run off that we are seeing now before even signing anyone.

It's pretty clear short of a pretty awesome draft, the 2022 Cowboys will be less talented than the 2021 one. So the coaching is going to have to fill in the gaps.
We will see...lets see the offseason in its entirety before making definitive proclamations.

Part of me thinks the cowboys might value the 10 million in cap space vs trading him now and getting a 5th round pick. That’s the only way I can see them releasing cause there’s no way teams aren’t offering anything

I am under the impression that if you get suspended, the standard contract language language says that you forfeit any future guarantees.
I recall reading that he ended up forfeiting the injury guarantee part of his deal with last years suspension.

Obviously there's a guarantee that's coming up as opposed to the standard after week 1 for vets deal.

You can project the offseason. They won't sign anyone of note in FA.

So it basically comes down to having a home run draft where they have to find 2-3 high level starters at key positions. How likely is that?

Here's the reality. The cap bit them in the butt. Bad contracts to guys like Elliott bit them in the butt. So now it's time to band aid a roster, put on a smile and try to sell your fans on a much improved 2022 Cowboys team.

moving a 9m$ cap hit to next year isn’t wise unless you have a specific use for it now. What do you need 10m$ for in June?

Maybe you plan to spend all your draft pick salary money now, and then won’t engage in deals with them until later in the summer? I guess that’s possible but I don’t remember a team ever going to that extent before

Then they should just wait until after June 1 and then look at trade offers. Same result cap wise.

Well, looks like they soured on LC shenanigans and got tired of him coming into camp out of shape and not ready to play. I don't think any Cowboys player, outside of Micah, is untouchable and irreplaceable. So i could care less what they do with Collins. Not like these two wannabee GMs have the brain power to know what they are doing anyway.

I agree but I saw something that 6 million of his money is guaranteed on March 22nd so maybe they want to make a decision by then. Idk I’m just trying to think it through cause there’s no way teams aren’t making offers. Even if it’s a late round pick

I hear ya… We need a LG, C, and now RT and we should also be drafting our future LT to replace Smith as who knows what we have in Ball?

I would look to sign a vet LG and draft a C or OT in round one and take another OL by round 4 to keep the cupboard full.

Releasing Collins has got to be viewed as “addition by subtraction” by this FO. His attitude and issues may have just burned the bridges.

Gotta move on and hope they decide to add some quality players. My guess is they are circling 2023 as their rebound year. Clear the books of some bad contracts— make way for a new HC next year and look to cut Zeke and D Law heading into 2023.
