Winston threw interceptions because he threw downfield instead of checkdown Charlie throwing to his running backs and tight ends.
With you on all points except the last one. That Bucs team that won the Superbowl featured more upgrades than just TB12.
That said, Dak vs Winston shouldn't be a thing. Dak may not be elite but he is a few tiers above Winston.
I think he was the main reason, but Gronk and AB played very well regardless if they weren't at their precious levels. And don't forget playoff Lenny as well. They brought in Gronk and Antonio Brown who weren’t the players they were. Gronk came out of retirement. Everyone knows the change from Winston to Brady was the reason the Bucs won the Super Bowl.
I’m not anti Dak. I’ve actually been more supportive of him than many. So let’s get that out there first.
I’m not a Jameis Winston fan, but I see that he just signed for two years $28m. ($14 per year)
We are paying Dak roughly three times what Winston makes. If both were equally paid, I would choose Dak over Winston; however, it would not be surprised at all if Winston outperforms Dak over the next two years at about 1/3 of the cost.
You can’t win in this league without a franchise QB, and you would think that there are not many acceptable substitutes for Dak. But Matt Ryan was traded for a third round pick. Wentz is probably also in the “Dak ballpark”
Dak
Wentz
Ryan
Winston
All are “retreads” other than Dak. Would anyone be surprised if any of all of these guys outperformed Dak next year.
This is just food for thought on a rainy day in Oklahoma.

Winston has all the talent to be a great QB. His problem is above the shoulders. You can't have a turnover machine making bad decisions.

Of course the entire Bucs team contributed to that NFL Championship; but everyone of those 31 points pricinpally involved free agents added during the 2020 offseason.Winston is average at best. he was also 1st over all pick who as a QB was an embarassment to his team. also Winston was a turnover machine, which hurt his team more than his TDs thrown. that's why his old team let him go. his results weren't that good in Tampa despite everything. his last year he went 7-9. basically the same team that won the superbowl.
he amounted to nothing in NO and got an average contract as a result.
Dak got a contract that was too much, but he had better results on the field. perhaps he was a better game manager than Winston that may have fooled people. he was less mistake prone.
Wentz is very up and down. often injured. he makes some plays that are so dumb it makes you scratch your head....then he makes a good play. that's why he is on his third team and it won't be his last.
Ryan is good enough to win. needs a strong supporting cast, but can get the job done. I think he is a good match for the colts, with that running game, improved defense. except that he is now in AFC and AFC is stacked with KC, Bills, Chargers, NE, Denver, Ravens, Cinci and perhaps improving cleveland, NE and Raiders.....that conference is pretty scary. its a tough gauntlet to get out of once you can even make it to the playoffs.
Winston has terrific arm talent but is a weirdo.
Dak is a cool cat with limited arm talent.
Neither can read a defense to save his life.
Toss up.
Spot on brothaOf course the entire Bucs team contributed to that NFL Championship; but everyone of those 31 points pricinpally involved free agents added during the 2020 offseason.
Brady - 3 TD passes
Gronk- 2 TD catches
Antonio Brown - 1 TD reception
Fournette- TD run
Ryan Succup - 4 PATs, 1 FG

Well (barring injury) - we will see Prescott this fall in games with two of them -No... none of them will put up better numbers than Prescott in 2022 – provided Prescott is not injured.
and what about the regular season? and the playoffs?Of course the entire Bucs team contributed to that NFL Championship; but everyone of those 31 points pricinpally involved free agents added during the 2020 offseason.

Yet TB12 persuaded Arians & the FO to bring aboard (pun intended) Gronkoswki and A.B. (assume adding Fournette & Succop credit goes to Bucs FO).and what about the regular season? and the playoffs?
Brady was key. the others were JAGs, including Gronk was a key piece, but not the main cog of their passing attack.
Wouldn’t be surprised at all, except for maybe Wentz.I’m not anti Dak. I’ve actually been more supportive of him than many. So let’s get that out there first.

you posted the stats from superbowl, but what about the other games they played to get to the superbowl or their regular season performance.Yet TB12 persuaded Arians & the FO to bring aboard (pun intended) Gronkoswki and A.B. (assume adding Fournette & Succop credit goes to Bucs FO).
I wasn't discounting any of the other Buccaneers team roster than made that championship run from the wildcard playoff spot to obtaining the Lombardi Trophy.
It's just a statistic from an NFL championship game that never happened before (and likely won't happen again).
In terms of value against the salary cap, teams would go with Winston over Prescott. The difference between Dak and Winston is talent. Dak plays the Saints and puts up 9 or 10 points and struggles. Winston plays the Saints and puts up 24 and the Bucs lose anyways. Winston may make more mistakes but at least you're scoring points. The Cowboys would have probably beat the 49ers if they had Winston. Too many people when they look at DAk they look at all these points scored and touchdowns but that's coming against crappy teams if you look at him against the playoff teams he's terrible.
