Tyreek Hill netted a 2022 1st, a 2022 2nd a 2022 4th-round pick, and additional picks in 2023

Davonte Adams netted a 2022 first and a 2022 2nd

Amari Cooper netted a 2022 5th and 2023 6th, plus Dallas traded back a 2022 6th.

Not saying Cooper is at Adam's and Hill's level, but......man.

He had a below average season. But I agree with the sentiment. We never get value for players we trade away.

Cooper had a bad season and now has had effort questions on two teams with an overpaid contract that screamed "we need to trade or cut this player". All Pro players with a big contract get 1st round picks when traded, good players with huge contracts you are lucky to get a return.

AND the teams that acquired the other two had no trouble resetting the wide receiver market either. I guess announcing to the works that we were cutting him wasn’t the best move?

The difference is both are arguably the top two WR’s in football. Coops hold up was his money too

Yeah, I am still ok with the Cooper trade. He was not a top WR anymore, his last few season, injuries, disappears in games and road games. High cap hit.
It was a good trade.
Even though they used that cap savings to re-sign a few decent players and many of their own FA's. it was good. It was like getting 5 players for 1.

Have to consider the trade market and WR's are the deepest position in the draft every year. And they were pretty sure the Cowboys would have released Cooper for the cap. Adams might have played for the tag and Hill was not asking out.

Cooper to CLE with Mayfield made no sense to me but with Watson? Wonder if they regret not being able to go after Hill?

That's what happens when you are not talking about cutting a player right before you try and trade him. But Jerry and Stephen are too stupid to understand that

Time and time again they do this. :banghead:

But in my other post, with the cap savings it was like 5 for 1, even if our own players and / or a few FA's they did sign.
I have no complaints on this one the way it worked out, but to announce it, yeah stupid.

Now the Collins deal, yeah, stupid again. Will see about the use of the cap savings, probably used to sign the draft picks.

I will repost an abbreviated version of a post I just made-Hill's trade value was 1188 points, Cooper's trade value was 32, yes I included the 4 points for the trade up in the 6th.

1. Cooper’s contract was a part of the problem as Dallas insisted that the team trading for him take 100% of the contract

2. Dallas publicly made it known that they were unhappy with Coop and were getting rid of him…. They gave away any leverage they had by opening their big mouths— which happens on a regular basis

3. Coop had a down year production-wise which hurt his value.

Put those factors together and you can see why our compensation is less than other #1 WRs that have been traded this offseason

Remember, Cooper had already established his value when the Raiders traded him to the desperate Cowboys for a first-round draft pick.
Hill and Adams were traded for the first time and netted their respective values.
So, it's a bit unfair to compare a second-traded Cooper to first-traded Hill and Adams.
Besides, Hill and Adams are head-and-shoulders above Cooper at this point in their careers.
Personally, I don't get investing that much trade value in wide receivers, especially when each year the draft seems to be loaded with receivers who can step in Day-1 and make a difference - see Cee Dee Lamb, DeVonta Smith, Justin Jefferson, Ja'marr Chase, Rondale Moore, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman Jr., etc.
