Are Dak's Problems Mostly Mental or Physical?

Beat up on nfc least jv teams and empty hollow yards vs. good teams when offense sputtered and we’re behind in 4th quarter vs prevent D’s.
The person you quoted.... could be a case of stat abuse. What we need is a break down of QB ratings and stats game by game. Quarter by quarter even.

true….. it After the season, when it no longer mattered, he admitted that health was in no way a factor in his diminished play. No doubt that he was indeed injured and played with a little pain, but the last 3-4 game stretch he said ( after the playoff loss) “he was 100% healthy.

I admire his candor and acceptance of responsibility for his mediocre and inconsistent play and not create a phantom excuse
Yeah, I get it. He should not have played while injured. Whoever allows that really screwed the team over.

People have made up their mind about Dak. Idk where this idea came from that he isn’t accurate but it’s just stupid. He’s one of the more accurate QB’s in the league whether it’s short or long passes. There’s tons of numbers that prove that. That narrative never makes any sense. There’s stats like expected completion over expected, target distance, air yards, % of throws on target, % of tight window throws, etc. All have Dak as being one of the better QB’s in terms of accuracy so anyone who says he’s not accurate is just repeating a dumb narrative and literally making stuff up
You are blind, don’t have a clue or have an agenda. Dak is in no shape or form an accurate QB. Madden and fantasy #s don’t count.

Ah I see...so you have preconceived notions of what I'm gonna say, eh? Talk about "bias"...how can we have a fair conversation with that attitude?

DId I EVER say "Dak sucks"? No...I HAVE NEVER EVER said it...but there you go making up sheet. How can we have a fair conversation with you doing that?

I already said he doesn't need to be brady. But there you go making up sheet again!

I am using Brady as The Standard...again I ask you...who QB would suit your sensibilities? I'm using that game to make it OBVIOUS. Shall I use some less talented QB than Dak so he LOOKS good?

Good lord....dude....what is wrong with you? You make up stuff in your head people never said then call then Dak Haters. Ridiculous. Insulting.
what attitude? just because I didn't 100% agree wit your opinion and "eye test". no, your eye test is biased. my eye test is biased. I said it originally, the eye test is always biased. one way or the other.

ok, you didn't say Dak sucks...I guess it was insinuated. but the point that you ignored, is there any QB that measures to Brady?

and I never said you said he needs to be Brady. I said, you are complaining, which is what you did, that why isn't he playing like Brady!!! or did I misunderstand?

what's wrong with me?!!! what's wrong with you!!!?? I simply asked a few questions in the begining as to how you were coming up with your views. stated some clarifications, which was factual. now you got your shorts all tied up in a knot because I didn't pat you on the back and slobber over your meaningless comments.....

and you are defintley driveling at the end.

its simple, Dak is not Brady.....I said as much. you made the comparison. I simply asked and you have never answered before going on your latest diatrible, does any QB measure up to Brady. if no one lives up to Brady, then comparing anyone to brady is just a matter of how far behind him they are....so is there any QB who measures up to Brady?

I loved me some Tim Tebow. Hoped he would defy the odds and what players said about his quarterback skills.
But finally I had to accept the inevitable. All leadership ability aside, he just wasn't a good throwing quarterback.

I had high hopes for Dak. I was hoping he would reduplicate his rookie season.
But six years in, he is simply a bus driver. Good against average teams; average against good teams.

He's a starting NFL quarterback. No doubt about it.
But so were Alex Smith, Case Keenum, Kirk Cousins, Daniel Jones, etc.

We can win with him, provided we have blue chip talent surrounding him.
Outside of that, we'll follow the same pattern we are now. Good enough to get to the playoffs in a weak division, not good enough to do much damage in the post season.

After six years, I just don't see much major improvement. Sorry.

In sum, it's mental. Mentality controls your moxie and your confidence in fitting the ball in tight spaces.
He has the arm strength, he just can't get it there, for whatever reason. And apparently, he can't read complex defenses.

That's mental.

I don't rate Prescott, neverer have had. I have seen him stink too many times against good teams to change now. Last year I was willing to give him a chance , good against TB, managed the running game to beat the Charges with their dreadful Run Defense, feasted on the rubbish in the East and got through the banana skin of NE. Excellent didn't give us silly 4th Q stats. Just won games.
Then he had a bad arm. Cooper plays average but Cooper does a number 1 WR thing and we beat Vikes at their place.
Then zilch. Prescott says he is fine. Dak then stinks the place out. The game against Denver was abject. We did however put 50 on Washingtons practice squad looked good though.
I resent the hater rubbish, I would be overjoyed to be proved wrong about Dak and love it if he had the ultimate success here. I honestly think we all would.
The thing is with Dak is he has the habit of making average QB look good. Take Arizona last year, they came into our meeting losing 3 on the spin, beat us then are humiliated by the Seahawks who stunk last year when Arizona badly needed to win. The Rams feasted on them in the playoffs.
So the only team Arizona beat in the last 6 games of the season was Dallas.
Dak makes Murray look like a franchise QB. I'm not sure Arizona think he is but there we are.

Dak is here next year and I fully expect him with an improved OL to win the East again unless Weitz players lights out or Philli really nail the draft.

But honestly after 6 years does anybody think Dak is good enough to win a SB? I posted this opinion in 18 and I can't see anything to change my mind ( although, my god I'd love to be wrong).

Unfortunately I think we have a double whammy situation with Dak, i.e., he has both mental and physical problems. On the one hand he has weird mechanics and this results in worm burners and passes sailing over the outstretched arms of receivers. On the other hand, his inaccuracy has clearly affected his confidence, to the point he never attempts difficult passes especially in clutch situations, culminating in that wonderfully comic slide to end last season.
What do the rest of the zoners think?

Dak has 3 big issues:

1. A poor blocking Oline that is penalty stricken
2. A slow and over the hill RB that is being forced as a major part of the offense
3. Substandard play calling that hasnt been able to adjust.

Thats it really. If they can somehow fix #1 the offense should get back to be an elite unit.

Mostly mental. But he clearly wasn't 100% after New England. I think his shoulder wasn't 100% either. He lost some accuracy and power . I think he may have over did it in camp. I don't think he was planting his feet well and getting behind his throws. When your favoring a leg/foot, it affects everything.

Dak Prescott has "problems"? Or do fans just have a preconceived notion of what a franchise quarterback "should" look like, play like, and perform like?

At this point Dak Prescott has proven he can play QB in the NFL at a level high enough to win a title given proper support from the team around him and the coaches. This is what you want. If we were scouts we could dissect the games of every starting QB in the NFL and find strengths and weaknesses. Do you want to make Tom Brady scramble 15 times a game? Do you want Lamar Jackson to stay in the pocket 25 times a game?

Fans wanting Dak to be the next Drew Brees throwing the football are understandably disappointed with him. Dak isn't and never will be that guy. But what he is is certainly good enough to get the Cowboys where they want to go.

Building a team and a scheme around him that makes that possible is the next step; and it is here where the Cowboys have failed. Just my opinion.

There is an old saying, "Two things can be equally true". His struggles began when he was injured [Calf] at the end of the Pats game, then once he returned to action, he became hesitant to run for fear of getting hurt. His passes lost its zip and accuracy because he couldn't generate power with his legs due to the calf.; From a mental standpoint Dak began to over-think in certain situations that required him to use "snap judgment" at a moment's notice to get out of trouble or to flat out run, he never really looked comfortable. But since he is now HEALED maybe we will start seeing a more decisive Dak instead of a doubtful Dak..

I want to win championships and paying Dak so much money that we can’t afford to have the team around him required to win a championship is where we should all draw the line.

Unfortunately some of you care more about Dak than you do winning the ultimate prize.

dak cannot throw properly that's not me hating or trying to draw my own opinion that's what his receivers are saying, been a cowboy fan even before Jimmy Johnson i don't put out remarks that don't have merit or a basic conclusion. and if you draw other opinions are conclusions make sure there are true
