I've always wanted that speed WR in our offense, but honestly I don't think this team would know how to utilize him properly

It's clear they didn't want Cooper on the team any longer.

cooper didnt live up to his salary. There is no doubt about that. The Cowboys also had an embarrassment of riches at the WR position and there really wasnt enough balls to go around. It was the right time to consolidate. The day that Lamb was drafted Coopers days were numbered. The only question was whether they could resign gallup to a reasonable contract, which they did. Blowing out his knee certainly helped that cause.

Aww man. I can't wait to see him traded for peanuts just for us to say we offered a 7th!!!

These are the moves I just dont understand. You have Cooper set at $20 million for this and the next two seasons. So you don't want Cooper at $20 per ... but are interested in Cooks a $16.2? So you trade Cooper for a 5th ... then you're desperate for another receiver. So you likely send a higher pick to pick up Cooks. He then will then want paid again?

I just don't get it

I’m thinking the Cooper trade was all Dak because Cooper felt he was open and the QB was throwing check downs

Cooper was fast, Wilson was fast, Lamb is fast enough.
Those guys are fast.

But Cooks is a different fast. He is behind Tyreek Hill in terms of speed, but other than that he is legit take the top off speed. We haven't had a receiver like that since Rocket

I haven’t heard anything about his locker room stuff
But if you look at his number he need very high target numbers to put up good numbers

Cooper is always dinged up and nicked up. And he disappears emotionally. He has great talent, but doesnt have the mental and aggressive attitude to dominate like a top #1. He also isnt an emotional leader at all. Very quiet guy.

He is a 1000-1100 yard per year guy with 6-8 TD's. Been that way his whole career.

Come on guys this stuff is being leaked because Jerry knows they had a crap FA period and he needs the distraction to show how all in he is. Besides forget WR they NEED OL and DL?

Question.......who thinks leaked this info? I'm betting Cook's agent......how do we know the Cowboys have any interest in his contract and/or trade. I can see where they may have told his agent.....call us IF/WHEN he's released.

Trade for Cooks
Sign OG Trai Turner (2-3 million)
Wait until draft

not Brandin Cooks or Tyreek Hill fast

Your talking about a little faster. Cowboys have typically liked the big receivers. And if you like to run the ball, these fast little guys dont help much.

Anyone would love a hill, but those guys are rare.

Cooks would be great. But getting deep is more than just pure speed. Lets not forget the Cowboys had the #2 offense and #2 passing game in the NFL last year. It was #1 the year prior before Dak got hurt. And this is not a dink and dunk offense.

You also have to have the time to throw in order to go deep. Cowboys in the 2nd half of the season didnt have that kind of time and teams were playing a two deep zone daring us to run the ball. They were forcing us to go underneath.

A guy like Hill will catch a 7 yard pass and run through the defense for 70 yards. Guy is amazing.

Cook is a 4.33 guy who has posted over 1,000 yards receiving 6 out of 8 season and 46 TD. Having said that I would not give up a 1st rd pick for him.

I wouldn't give anything more than a fifth rounder. Assuming it's still too rich for SJ's blood but Cook has the over the top speed that this team needs.

Cowboys looked into Wagner, Parker, and now Cooks. They are clearly trying and doing their homework. They just arent going to do anything stupid. I am fine with that. EVERY deal they signed this year was team friendly. Even the Lawrence thing was great for them.

Fans just need to be patient and wait for it all to shake out. The Cowboys are clearly in tune with their needs and who they needed to get rid of.

I completely agree. If I were the Cowboys I am using that 5th rounder the Cowboys got for Cooper and using that. Im fine with them holding serve there.

The problem with this ..

You trade your #1 to save $7 million this year. You are then trading a higher pick to pick up a guy who won't be your #1.
That was all about dumping the cap hit. They were lucky to get anything for him sadly.
