The only way to compare deals is to compare those done in the same year.
We all know they go up every year, on average

With the salary cap increase, a
2021 40 mil about the same a 2022 45 mil

And fwiw....not a new deal for Carr, but an extesnion. Ave is about 35.5 mil

people here still will complain about it, and use it as an excuse as to why we don't sign free agents.....look no further than the comments above me lol

no one would be complaining if he was earning it or was any good. unfortunately we are paying top 10 money to a bottom 15 QB. it looks like we will never have an elite Defense because we have to keep allocating resources, cap and picks to surround him with elite talent for him in look credible only to still look horrible against good teams and pat his stats against the NFC East. if none of this was the case.. no one would be complaining.

well folloing the illogic of a few here last year and as they argue, ...he was second highest paid QB last year and expectations were to be elite. now he is 7th paid (as predicted it would drop) and no longer in elite paid category, should expectations be for not elite level play.

I am sure everyone will say 160M is elite no matter what (moving goal post and changing logic of argument).....

Disclaimer: this doesn't mean I am saying its ok to play bad. this doesn't mean I think he is any good or not good. this doesn't mean I don't expect him to play well. the intent is to only follow up on the logic that was presented by many last year.
Yeah all it cost us to retain him was Cooper and Randy and no activity in free agency. No biggie. Yes the Cowboys could have spent and restructured all their contracts but the reality is that isn't how this franchise operates. And so in a practical sense that was the cost.

People act as if the repercussions are suddenly less/non-existent now.

Derek Carr just signed an extension worth 121.5 million for 3 years which will drop Dak down another spot to #7.

They gave you False data

Dak is tied for 4th

  • Carr's average is 35.5 mil with the extension onto his final year
  • Josh Allen's average is 36.25 (6 year extension, 2 years left= 8 years)

Won't be for long. He will be getting a new deal next offseason or right before the start of the 2024 season. Or will be signing an extension.

Your trollish posts are an overbearing burden.
You have a button that can easily fix that for you. Use it if the truth hurts you that much.

If you use it enough you'll eventually have a cute little echo chamber of people that think just like you, although you might be talking to just yourself there, but still everyone wins.

Until he is somewhere around 15th he will be overpaid.

As long as he is getting paid top 10 money without having top 10 talent he is a burden on this roster.
The problem is not only that Dak is overpaid. The real problem is that he seems incapable of leading this team to a super bowl. He just doesn't play well against good teams until we get far enough in a hole that the opposing defense backs into schemes more designed to prevent big plays and keep the clock moving.

Remember when many on here wanted to swap Dak for Carr?
Would you all complain about this contract if Carr was here?

I will post this comparison now, before all of you say NO, you would not whine...

So Derek Carr has signed a 3-year, $121.5M contract extension which puts him in the $40M per club.

Where is the outrage that he isn't worth that much like there was for Dak? Carr has played in only 1 playoff game which he lost and has a losing record for his career (57-70) with only 2 winning seasons in his 8 year career.

Dak is better in virtually every passing/QB category except sacks. His record over 6 years is 53-32 and a 1-3 record in the playoffs (so he's actually won a game).

I took that from somewhere else. Tear it down.

they are giving him a chance.

2022-23 is make or break for Dak.

drafting a QB1 in 2023 makes sense.

Yet another reason why this contract is not NEARLY as bad as many of us make it out to be. Quite simply, decent quarterback play costs a ridiculous amount of money in the modern NFL. I'm fine with the contract. You can't compete without at least a competent QB. The Zeke deal is the true albatross.

I don't really give a crap where he is ranked in relation to the league......he is paid too much in Dallas for what he can bring to the offense. Overpaying for a QB who has an average arm and below average intelligence when it comes to reading defenses. Plus now he is less mobile. He ain't no rookie or spring chicken anymore, i think what we see is what we will continue to get.
The sad thing is, weather you like it or not, he's going to probably get another big pay day!
