depends, how much are you giving up compared to the impact a top prospect brings.
Understood, but that's a slippery slope.
Trading up for Clayborn did not work our so well.
Jerry wanted to trade up for Paxton the QB as well.
Keep your picks, get more shots...

Dallas traded up and got Dorsett as well. Again it depends, for the most part I agree with you but I never say never, there are always exceptions. People will say we are more than 1 or 2 players away? 1 player can make a big impact and change the course of a team. Now in this draft I don't see the top 5 prospects as that much better than the middle 1st rd picks. I would also add, Jerry said he would trade up for the right player, is that player sitting at 20th pick?

That's when we had probably the BEST GM ever in the NFL.
The Father of America's team!!

For the right guy. Who isn't for the right guy. The question is, do they see someone worth trading up to get?

Tex was the BOSS and surrounded himself with people like Gil, Tom, etc.
A competent or great GM knows how to do things like the above.
You know like Jerry.....:muttley:

Yes Tex as GM, Murchison was Boss. Tex hired Gil and let Gil do his job. Jerry has hired McClay and if he allows him to do his job then we have a chance to pickup quality players.

Murchison was the founder and owner of the team.
A hands-off owner who hired Tex to be the GM and build and promote it as he saw fit.

We wouldn't spend $1 to sign a FA at a postion of need, why on earth would we believe the Old Man and think there is a chance to trade up? He must have read my post here saying I have lost interest in this franchise and is trying to get me to watch and care

He never said Jimmy would go in last season, If Jerry does it this year then is everything good? No . People are frustrated I get that but to lose reason or thought and just slam anything he says I think it foolish. As I said there are things he has done I have not agreed with, this off season alone, I think Cowboys could have done more to get in guys like Wagner but to jump on Jerry no matter what he says, says more about the people slamming him than it does on Jerry.
for me, its not that he never went in last year, its that he went dead silent on it after he made that statement. You cant just make a statement like that on National TV(WITH JIMMY THERE) and then never address it again during the season. It is bad optics and leaves everyone in limbo. Feels like unfinished business. Makes Jerry look tainted and petty. Yes, Im good if Jerry puts him in the ring this year, but if he waits much longer it might be post mordem. Jimmy is 80. Clock is ticking.
