Kiper and McShay's dueling 3 round mock

My favorite part of the draft process is seeing joe fans who haven't even seen most of these players telling those who have how clueless they are.

Is your favorite part of the season when they do it with the coaches?

Cool story.

You might want to look up what that was about and how it turned out. You might learn something. I doubt it but you might.
I did look it up, and Shuler and Dilfer still suck, while Faulk is in the hall of fame

lol I just realized it was Tobin, Irsay was the guy who ran off your other love affair (Wentz)

Calls people joe fans.

Never made a football team in his life.

Eh, I know the type.

Let 'em be king message board. 'Tis all they have.

i like it.
i'd rather have raimann and david bell...but i do like lucas and bo.
good haul.
i'd take it.

If I'm the Cowboys, I trade down if I can pick up another round 2, 3 picks..Because some of the consensus 2nd round picks are better bets than the late 1st round guys..

Not only that, trading down helps you not force anything.. Let's you address more needs with more picks.

It's not where you pick: it's how you evaluate that matters.
:hammer:

Mel is just one of the many that do this for a living. He’s not one of the guys I value.

I hope Kiper's picks are typical for him because this is a terrible draft for Dallas. They can do better. They need to do better since they don't believe in free agency.

Overall, he can give you some players to look at. He's not totally worthless.

It's just that if you're trying to be serious, like really serious about drafting NFL players, you want to ignore Mel Kiper completely.

There's a reason why he misses so much.

And if he knew so much, he'd likely be in someone's front office.

After so many decades of doing this and thing, this thing where your record eventually pans out for all to see, and then go back and grade the product of your work, in hindsight.

The hindsight grade you get kinda tells the tale about how good you were at it.

He's entertaining. He's passionate. He loves doing this, and has fun with it.

And yeah, he's made a lot of money doing something he loves and that's an accomplishment. I actually admire his talent, as a media guy. That's actually where Kiper shines. And that's what makes him a rare bird mix of draft nerd "expert" and sports commentator.

I know the difference though. He's legitimately no better at this than many fans. But he loves it enough, and he took the risk and time and loss of investing in an idea that paid off. That, I admire. That's where I think he's brilliant. Genius, actually, in a sense that he was ahead of his time, at a time when this kind of thing was truly ahead of its time.

But, let's be honest. His record shows he's been right on some, and very wrong on others he went out of his way to be right about.

It happens. And I'll just stop right there. I don't need to hate him to take him with a grain of salt. And I'll still watch him, but I'll also criticize him because that's what objective media consumers do. Especially ones interested in talking seriously about the draft. Who can really take this seriously?

As a more serious-level fan here talking on a message board with others who do the same thing, I can't take Kiper seriously, other than for the entertainment value he provides as a media personality, sportscaster. We all know the "draft guru" sell on Mel's image was business move from the sports networks.

Kiper's take on how the draft would be covered really paid off, and he's truly a pioneer in that regard.

That's Kiper's value, his niche, his beat, so-to-speak. That, no one is better. Or ever will be.

As far as being a draft guru, that was something sports networks sold us. And made millions from.

"Who the hell is Mel Kiper anyway?" LOL

The NFL guys say that for a reason.

People are prone to being sucked, as Parcells would say it, by big news media covering us in a certain light.

So many teams FO's have likely been burned by Mel's commentary over the years and over confidence in certain guys backfired on people, I'm sure.

At least, that's what I sense in that video. Thing is, he said that a long time ago about Kiper.

And if you go back, and grade his predictions, it pretty much comes out the same.

There are guys who can break down players and hit pretty regularly. And their records will show it. So that's like . . . no duh . . . what he's saying right there.

I should have known better than to look at anything involving Mel the pied piper Kiper and his predictions. He is so bad, as usual those picks are trash.
I was hoping McShay was picking for us.
