My take away from yesterdays news conference is him sandwiched in between our dysfunctional ownership . He actually looked smaller if that’s possible .

I had been somewhat targeting him since his arrival but I feel sorry for him now. I know many fans had hope he was going to be our savior but he has no chance over coming these fools . He’s become just another puppet. And probably always was since he stayed over at Jethro’s .

I can’t see him surviving another season barring something we haven’t seen this era which isn’t likely. And for his sake he deserves something better.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t totally grasp the crap show he was getting himself into. What a Shonda our Cowboys have become .

I'm not a McCarthy fan at all and never was, but he's set up to fail. I believe he's not 100% committed at this point anyways.

Every decision this season will have a "What would Peyton have done?" attached to it.

I mean, the team is significantly worse right now then it was last year, so there's no reason to think we're going to make a run.

I believe this will be the last year for big Mike and the watermelons in Dallas will breath a sigh of relief.

There are not many HC's that could thrive in this Circus.
I am really disappointed that it appears Mac cant be more involved in the Offense as that is his bread and butter.
I was really hoping he could take Dak under his wing and work with him.

Had the exact same takeaway. They treated him like a little boy… JJ and SJ spoke 80% of the time. They could have invited his input on so many more topics than they did— made a platform for him to contribute and bring value— but this was clearly the JJ show. He even threw shade at SJ at times (half truths in every joke)

And when JJ was waxing “philosophical” about how he prides himself on making others “feel that they made decisions that matter” even though it is always his final say and they only “think” it was their decision— that just confirmed again why this FO will never grow up. They simply can’t avoid making everything about themselves.

Understood, but who is going to replace him with any better results ?
Peyton is going to cost too much in terms of Draft Capitol.
We are really in the hole until we have a new front office.

Sad times ..... We cannot rise above this front office dysfunction.
The NFL is just too competitive...

He'll be replaced by some other recycled trash that was fired from another team and is willing to be a puppet or Dan Quinn.

They're not going to get a young, innovative coach, no, they'll get someone older guy from the old guard that has been around, fired a few times, and they'll just sub him in there for a few years. Rinse and repeat.

I say this all the time and I'll keep saying it... The last time the Cowboys went to the college ranks for a HC and drafted a QB in the 1st round they won Super Bowls. They have not done either of those things since. They, for some reason, have stopped taking the head coach job and QB position seriously in Dallas.

Can’t imagine Peyton joining this crap show as another puppet. Unless his phone isn’t ringing.
I think Garrett was far from a puppet. He was just a bad coach. He did help the Cowboys improve the offensive line and brought in quality people to play football for the most part. Romo and Dak were both products of Garrett.

Garrett was the greatest puppet this era. He was like the poster child for Cowboys puppets.

Jerry wanted to draft a QB in rd 1, both Manziel and Paxton went 1st rd just not to Dallas thankfully.

He would not be a puppet , he would demand control as well as big bucks.
The issue is draft capitol, we cant afford to give up picks for him as we have limited the draft as our main source of talent acquisition.
We are not major players in free agency and
the only trades we do are overpaying for wide receivers.

One of the reason we have had 27 years of futility.
Jerry wants to be large and in charge and we aint winning squat until that changes.

Man I agree. I felt sympathy for him watching that 5 minutes in. I had to stop watching it was s painful listening to Jerry's blithering. It was like a propaganda canned video and the media in the room was playing along with it. That made it much worse. Jerry and Stevie were NEVER challenged by the media.

You give Paxton Lynch 3 All-Pro linemen and the best RB in the NFL and things might have been different for him. A lot of QBs (1 did) could've made a career off handing it off to Zeke.

Manziel was a lost cause for anybody.

I actually think Jerry and Stephen want Peyton more than he wants them. He certainly has a firsthand knowledge as to how they operate, so that would really have a significant bearing upon how he feels. He knows all about the demands he'd be under as their HC.

As of now, he's committed himself to being a TV commentator. That's surely what suits him the best until such time as he's had enough of it. It's for sure that the time he'll be required on the job will be far less than as a HC. He's made a well-informed decision, imho.
