like I've said in the past, MM is the perfect puppet coach for the Jones clowns, he exceeded all expectations last year by going 12-5, 6-0 in the division, there was never a doubt in my mind that MM would be coming back as our coach.

I actually agree that stats mean little if you don't win.
They mean little as far as team success . But if you’re trying to identify where the core issues or concerns are stats can often be an indicator.

Its how we know that our defense being bashed for all of our rushing yards was a contributing factor, much like offensive penalties . And our lack of rushing the ball. Not to mention our lack of success on 3rd downs.

Individual stats can often reflect that those players who put up good numbers in defeat aren’t always part of the problem and why they are recognized individually when it didnt always translate to team success.

That’s how we knew Marino was a great QB or Sanders was a great RB despite not always being on playoff teams. Witten and Ware are good examples for the Cowboys. Probably HOF caliber production that never saw a championship game in Dallas.

It’s difficult to say if MM has any control at all. He certainly didn’t over Moore and the offense .

Yeah, but if that is the case and not just an example of him "empowering" his coaches, then why?

Why would he allow it? His money is guaranteed so why let your reputation go to trash to satisfy an egomaniacal owner? Considering he's already on the hot seat why allow Jerry to ruin his future coaching prospects as well?

It doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to go down, you may as well go down swinging.

Maybe he's just not that good of a coach and doesn't recognize when correcting is warranted, or maybe he thought we had our best game plan/scheme with the roster limitations we were facing? Either way I can't say he did right by us not being involved in the game plan.

Puppet or not 12-5 doesn't get you fired. I don't believe he will get another opportunity if we don't get past the divisional round this year.

Can’t imagine Peyton joining this crap show as another puppet. Unless his phone isn’t ringing.
BS Peyton gets along quite well with the Jones family. Again... pure speculation on your part. Not a single coach that has ever left the Cowboys said that Jerry was so over bearing that he wasnt allowed to do their job.

One of the reason we have had 27 years of futility.
Jerry wants to be large and in charge and we aint winning squat until that changes.

Just imagine... if Jerry wouldnt be so vocal and out in front, DeMarco Murray wouldnt have fumbled while running through a hole so big a mac truck could have driven through it and we would have beaten GB in GB in 2014

Damn you Jerry!

And probably why he spoke out after the playoff loss. He probably thought there was a possibility he could be fired then and wanted to let potential employers know that wasn’t all on him .

I have no doubt he’s a puppet now . And suspicious he was from the beginning accepting Moore as he did. It’s a wicked tangled web here in Big D. The most dysfunctional situation in he NFL.

he deserves better because any coach should have the tools and means to succeed. having said that, he wasn't who i wanted for the job, he's been average imo. Not stepping in to help a struggling offense for half of last year was a big mistake. And his whole admitting to not studying as much as he previously said during the interview rubbed me the wrong way. if they move on, they better have a darn good plan....

Getting along well with them and actually trying to coach under him isn’t the same .

Bill go along with Jethro too but once the meddling and undermining begun , adios.

If you’re in denial of our most dysfunctional situation under Jethro , then you are the first I know of to argue as such.

I think we can blame Jerry for a lot of things
But not that.
And yes I know you were being facetious.

Comes down to how an owner or GM views the HC position. Does he work for them or for the team?

Every player on the Cowboys team knows exactly who they work for, the HC is simply the go between. They know who calls the shots about playing time.

McC was exactly what Booger wanted. A HC that needed a job and didn't have a lot of suitors. He got one with a ring, two HOF QB's on his resume and one that would cooperate with the job description he outlined in the interview. Unlike any other McC have even seen.

I think McC knew what he was walking into because he'd talked to enough coaches in the pipeline and Garrett schooled him about his future boss' idiosyncrasies.

I read that 80% of that pre-draft pc was the Jones and 20% McC. That sounds about right.

As far as I'm concerned McCarthy deserves players that have talent and it is up to him to get them over the top. For all of Jerry faults, getting players for the most part especially in recent years, he has done that. Dallas has enough talent on this team, every body and their brother will acknowledge the talent is there. It falls to the staff to take that talent and go out and win.

Remember it was Jethro who never allowed that impressive Triplets of Romo, Dez and Murray hit the field together again after arguably our best playoff run this era in 2014.

But I’m glad to see our owners top defender had joined the discussion,

Not everyone. We have had enough talent in some key areas , especially on offense. But not defense and arguably what has prevented this franchise from more success this era.

And you base what on that? Heard any HC's badmouthing their former employers?

When TCU fired Gary Patterson, he was fuming and wouldn't stay on through the rest of the season but he didn't slam them openly.

All Parcells said was that the job was keeping Booger away from his tendencies. I would bet he and Johnson would have a lot more to say if allowed to speak freely but they are not. Not and stay in the fraternity. But Jimmy has sent a few messages.

Demarco Murray wanted a huge payday... he left and stunk immediately. Giving a RB a huge payday... uhm, isnt that the same thing you all call Jerry out on for Zeke?
So he doesnt give a payday to a RB and you blast him
He gives a payday to an RB and you blast him????

That was Jerry? I thought Murray went to Philly as a FA was the reason or was Jerry to overpay for his own? There is win for jerry he is accused of not signing a player like Murray then he is hammered because he overpays? Also 2015 Romo was dealing with injuries that he played 4 games that season, was that on Jerry as well?
